Bleeding Blue For Wendy Pleau
By Brad Lee
While we're the first to admit we have a problem obsessing over sports in general and hockey specifically, a blog post by Jeremy Rutherford of the Post-Dispatch really touched us.
Wendy Pleau, wife of general manager Larry Pleau, has been battling cancer for a year now. This week the Blues hosted a blood drive at the church across the street from her hospital room at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Rutherford wrote about it here.
Say what you will about Pleau's tenure as GM in St. Louis, it's really nice to see the organization get behind him and his wife. The team also awarded the first annual Wendy Pleau Determination Cup to the training camp team to win the round robin tournament.
Kudos to the Blues for a couple of small but very classy initiatives.

While I agree Larry is not one of my fav’s in Management. I have had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Pleau twice and both times it was at an AllStar game. She thought it was so crazy cool that we were proudly wearing our BlueNote and supporting our 1 or 2 players and the Blues as a whole. She was so nice to us, she certainly sounds like quite the fighter.
Again, the boys come through when needed! I agree another classy, quiet, behind the scenes feel good story. They just seem to do without caring a bit about the PR. Hockey players are the best!!!

they should have another blood drive (or two). it seems there wasn’t as much advance notice as one would have liked. I didn’t find out about it until the day after it happened. I would’ve gone.
