Bruins @ Blues; GDT

Bruins are second best team in the NHL. Blues are tied four fourth worst in the league. I'm sure this will end well. It's damn cold. Bitterly cold. Better keep your bear skin rug nearby to keep you warm.

Burt_medium

We'll just keep it with the open thread theme tonight. Can't wait to attempt a live blog vs. Detroit later in the week. Could be an interesting game. Fill up the comments, if you please.

I didn’t notice any difference, although the GDT did seem a little less gay.

Anyone have a live feed? I’ve checked the “usual suspects” with no success thus far.

it was quite a pretty setup and goal, even it was against the Blues early in the 1st period. Hopefully the Bruins used up all of their “pretty” already for this game.

In other news

Blues prospect Lars Eller and the rest of the Danish juniors failed to make the “Pool A” World Junior Championships next year. To do so, all they had to do was to at least get a tie out of their game against Austria earlier tonight. Not too much to ask since Austria sucks ass.

Denmark lost the game 8-3.

Eller had 3 goals and 3 assists in 5 games in the “Pool B” playoffs. In the game against the Austrians he was -5 (the last three Austrian goals we’re empty netters).

Side note: most hockey fans (and some so-called ’experts’) over here think Eller’s overrated. Me included.

was it this game or the fact that I ate 20 pierogies the reason why it’s hard to breathe now?

btw I used to be Christine, but I had to choose a new nickname. And fuck detroit in the eyeballs.

If I had to guess it’s probably a combination of the two. Also, what the hell is a pierogie?

pierogies...

best god damn food ever. Each batch of dough requires 6 eggs, thus I wonder how I do not suffer from heart attack or have gallbladder failure.

btw, I like potato pierogies the best.

Most of us had that one Farrah poster on the wall in the 70s, Brad.

I hope you’re not trying to tell us something with the nude bearskin Burt!

Pretty good crowd tonight considering when we got back to the car it said it was 7 degrees outside. Inconsistent tonight, but the yellow cubs are a great team. Can’t put too much on the keepers, while they weren’t great, the defense sucked on pretty much every goal. The real reason I wanted to comment is in “Mystery Alaska” John Biebe says “The Judge’s” (Burt Reynolds character) nickname in college (he played 2A, Birdie) was “The Bear,” is that a reference to that picture?

same amount of injuries pretty much. Ugh, I hate to think about that season. Another possibility “Cam Paddock – he’s this season’s Mike Glumac.”

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
