A Quick Postcard from Stockholm

As part of the Blues travel group, we attended the Blues practice at the Globe(n) this afternoon. After practice we had lunch, then in walked the Blues to have lunch with us.

I promise to come back and write something regarding our trip as part of the Blues folks, but had to get these up asap.

[Ed. Note: On top of hanging out with the players and getting these pictures, Dan and his wife got to sit next to David Perron for lunch. Jealous yet?]

I am completely in awe.

Not only are you lucky enough to be in Stockholm for this, you also got to have lunch with the guys and they acknowledged the existence of Game Time.

You, sir, are my personal hero.

Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

Rec'd as an acknowledgement of my jealousy

I would give anything to be in Stockholm right now

… well, except the money it would have taken to get me there…

Did you tell them all that they have to regularly visit the site? Great idea to get the autographs on the SLGT paper.

Jealous, indeed!

I know that other teams that have made the Euro vacation to start their seasons have had bad starts/ bad seasons and got their coaches canned, but I can’t help feeling a good vibe about this. It started with Marcus’ video postings and continues with this post.

I now wish I’d pulled the kids and taken everyone even though it’d cost about twenty-five grand.

Now it’s on to the games, crashing the Redwing’s party and sticking a finger in Wing nation’s eye!

Im not jealous

it’s just that somebody told me there was a prize at the bottom of this bottle of vodka…

Look I'm sure youre a nice person and everything but that Redwings jersey you're wearing makes me want to cave your face in with my fist...it's not you it's me and the fact that you're a fucking Redwings fan

by RFJCC on Oct 1, 2009 12:36 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

Rec'd this.

I’ve forever looked for that prize. Then I stopped drinking vodka.

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

My favorite links contributor … is this you in the PD video?

It’s the last one and its sitting by Perron (check) wearing and what you’re wearing wearing (check). If so, awesome.

Nice catch.

I like how Dan lets DP do all the talking. We need a screen capture of that for one of the “You Write The Caption” stories.

Quick hit here...

Perron’s Twitter DP_57 is realy, DP57 is not. (According the Frenchie.)
The Mayor’s Twitter tjoshie is NOT real. He was a bit put off that I either asked, or that there was a fake account out there.
I think he has been asked before. If it is a GTer “playing” Oshie in good fun, I get the impression that he does not like it.
BTW, I have TONs more pics and lots to talk about, but we have been so busy, that I only get to do quick hits when I am back in the hotel room trying to recover from jetlag. Which isn’t helping, as I should be sleeping now, but can’t sleep, so I am on here… go figure.
Oh, had to say this, my wife walked around the room as I was busy chatting with DP. She came back saying that she talked with Mr. Slap shot #2 Al. She said another gentleman was there and signed her stuff too. They were both REALLY nice to her and the other gentleman she didn’t know. But she said he was asking her about things and was again, really nice to her. I asked who it was, she said, “I don’t know.” she described him and it sounded like JD. I showed her a pic of him and she said, YEP, that was him. By the time I got over there, they were all gone… sucks to be me I guess.

Meeting 3 GTers this weekend, can’t wait.

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
