Road Music, 10/28 @ CAR
Must. Resist. Scorpions...
The Boys in Blue have had a lot hit them lately, both literally and figuratively. Their last trip out east went poorly, and since then they've had a pretty tough road with the officiating, cheap shots, and they're own bodies trying to kill the team. It's going to be an emotional game, for sure, as the Blues have to put that all behind them. Ride out that storm, and we'll be fine. Show us what you're made of, boy(e)s !!

The Pride of Chambana.
Cannot go wrong with these guys.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

Feel good about tonight
After an emotional game against dallas I think our nerves will be deadened a bit and should play a calmer game against carolina. Stasny is in so we will get some energy from him and Petro.
Ward in goal, he will do decently.
Ruutu is out.
Canes are on a losing streak and are heavily penalized so far.
Overall a very winnable game.

I'm hoping for...
…another Eric Staal freak-out. Last time he had one of those, one of my fantasy teams got about 40 PIM.
Gah, Carolina. You know, their fans are nice people, but there’s just something about a team who has a piggie as a mascot.
Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?
Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

AND...
with the clocks going back here last weekend…that means in the UK the game starts at 11pm instead of midnight!
I’ll be able to stay up for the whole thing! Now…fingers crossed for an online feed…

STILLMAN, NASH ARE TRADED ON DRAFT DAY
Derrick Goold
June 22, 2003
While Cory Stillman was perked up and expecting to be traded in a cost-cutting move by the Blues this weekend, teammate Tyson Nash wasn’t concerned, wasn’t even aware the NHL draft was this weekend and a tempest of deals was brewing.
Until he checked his cell phone, that is.
It read, “10 missed calls.”
At least one was from Larry Pleau.
Uh-oh, he thought.
Stillman and Nash, left wingers with seven-figure salaries for the Blues, were traded in separate moves to trim the team’s $60 million payroll. Pleau, the Blues general manager, said the moves were rooted in the team’s disappointing finish and were not just “economic moves.” But considering the Blues received draft picks in return, the motive is clear.
Nash was traded to Phoenix for a conditional pick — either in the fifth round Sunday or fourth round next summer. Stillman was sent to Tampa Bay for the 62nd overall pick this season, which the Blues used to select center-right winger David Backes.
In another move, the Blues traded the 93rd pick to New Jersey for Nash’s potential replacement, malcontent forward Mike Danton, and the 101st pick.
“Without a doubt it came as quite a shock,” said Nash, a fan favorite through his four seasons as a Blue. “Obviously, it’s a move to trim salary. I’m a fourth-line guy who makes a good chunk of change. So I knew something could happen. I just couldn’t believe it.”

So I know it might be a little early to be asking this, but...
Me and a few of my friends (one of whom is a Canucks fan) are driving in from Cincinnati to watch the Blues-Canucks game on the 10th. We’re rolling into town early, and we were wondering if there was a specific spot in St. Louis where Blues fans congregate pre-game to drink and be merry (and drink—I can’t stress this enough).

Head to Soulard
It doesn’t really matter which bar. (Blues and Johnny’s seem to have an arrangement going) But most of the bars in the area have pre-game specials and shuttles to and from the game.

Man I don't know
Neil Sedaka’s “Bad Blood” was looking reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal good for this game but I’ll defer.
Got a REO story., Was working a side job in Germany as a sound man/roadie for the local promoter in Mannheim. Basically I smuggled in american booze and cigarettes to the yank and limey bands from the local army PXes. I had been in Germany almost 2 years and was real homesick when I saw REO on the schedule. Great concert as usual and got to chat a bit with them about back home in STL and IL and some of the college concerts and bars I had seen them at before leaving in the military.

You crazy kids have fun.
I hope to come home finding out they took Ruutu from the owner’s box and eviscerated him. Oh, and to find out that the Blues won too. That’d be nice.
