GDT Roll Call: Death To Shamu

Unlike some fans, I really don't hate the Canucks. I don't like them, by any means, but the apex of my dislike for them came during the Bertuzzi years. Considering that I still hate Bertuzzi and don't really care much about the canucks, maybe it was more about him than anything else.

Similarly, I'm always surprised when I hear someone who really, really hates the Blues. They just don't seem like the hateable type. Unless you're a Philadelphian and they came into the stands and punched you back in 1972, I just don't get it. So when I read the hate over at Nucks Misconduct before the game, I was surprised.

The fact that I read that, went to the game and got to watch the Blues stomp all over the canucks made it even more fun for me. During every goal celebration and every Shamu who got his face punchisized for him I couldn't help but think about how much madder Sean Zandberg must have gotten as the game went on. Good guys, those boys over at NM, I just never would have guessed there was so much hate.

Anyway, at the same time the Blues were exploding, so were you all in the GDT. An effort all the more impressive as it wasn't even on TV locally.

Once again

Soccer games get in the way.
7:20 soccer game so won’t be home until about 9 and then have to drop kick them into the shower.
I may be here the last half of the 3rd.

Appendectomies suck...

Not only did I have to give up my tix to the Calgary game, but I’ve missed all of the GDT fun because I was either (a) in the hospital strung out on painkillers, or (b) too busy catching up on all of my school work. And I’ll probably miss it tonight, too… stupid freakin’ appendix…(grumblegrumblegrumble)

You and Teeej hang out together or something?...

Have you seen his “Direct Access” regarding his surgery and recovery?

I have

because I’m a stalker huge fan… My TV was way bigger, but I couldn’t pull it right up to my face :)

Teeej came up several times while I was in the hospital, actually. Things like “I bet TJ Oshie didn’t have to sit in the waiting room for 3 hours before he saw a doctor” or “I probably got the broken gown that’s missing the string because they save the good ones for TJ Oshie”… I think now my family expects me to get out on the ice in a week and skate circles around all of my healthier but less impressive friends, just to complete the analogy…

Sheesh

I hate this UK – US time difference!

Can’t stay up for the Preds game tonight either. I can watch the Sharks game…and next Thursday I can watch too cos I have Friday off work.

sigh

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
