"Fire Murray"

It’s only half of a solution if you want to go that route. Who do you say we bring in to replace him?

That makes no sense.

If you’re gonna fire the coach, might as well get rid of the people coaching underneath him, too. It isn’t fair to the underlings to keep up a ship that you felt was burning already when you fired the HC.

How about we fire the Captain (A.K.A. the guy I will not be calling by name from now on because he’s not worth the captaincy or a roster spot, in my mind)?

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

didn't work when they fired Quenneville and moved up Kitchen

Assistant coaches are player friendly when the head coach is a hard ass like Murray. It’s near-impossible to make the change from players’ friend to head coach, if you ask me. Which you didn’t.

by gallagher on Nov 15, 2009 9:26 PM CST up reply actions

how about. . .

we stop playing a man down all of the time. . .

or we get better at it. having Backes out for a majority of both of the last two games, has made me realize his value (even when he is cold on the scoring side of things). The worst part of it is, he may or may not be ready to play by Thursday. He physically could not skate coming off of the ice. I would expect to see Eller or Stasney brought back
Between that and the fact Cam only plays 3-7 mins/game. we are playing 3 lines all of the time. trading Win and BJ in for each other.

there is also the obvious. . . SCORE on the PP!! (and on the PK if you want, I am a fan of SH goals)

then we should win . . . and register some points

Well

at least it was EJ who sent out that horrendous “pass” directly to Malhotra which led to the game winning goal. Can you imagine what would have happened if it were Brewer? Poor bugger would have been hung, drawn and quartered by now.

that was a 5 man screw job

winchester at the other blue line, the sharks still had a mand in front of our goal, the fowards we did have somewhat near enough for puck support where at our blue line. and yea crap pass. ej cut from behind his net right next to the goalies 4 times in the first period, the fourth time his pocket was picket. not sure you want your near-rookie doing that too many times a game. after his pocket was picjked and the puck almost ended up in the net, i have to say this, ej didnt try it a 5th time, he tried something COMPLETELY different and disasterous :)

Very true

but at least he’ll learn from that. And he’s already developed the neat “I made a mistake. Park it and move on” philosophy so he’ll be fine.

I just found it interesting that, had Brewer made that mistake, he’d have been jumped on from a great height with dozens of threads on all the forums calling for his head and worse. However – because it was EJ…nothing is said.

game was part of my plan

my new aisle guard this year is agnes (117) and sinc e i like to watch the pregame skate and sit somewhat near her ushering spot she talks to me, so we were discussing generl things (like when is that jd thing happening?) and she says i think the team quit on their coach, they have done it before.

wow. ushers telling fans the team is quitting 12 games into the season. lol. talk about bad vibes getting seriously out of hand.

as ugly as that game was and as fustrated as it made me watching it (as i had to sit next to shark fans to top everything off) 38 million shots vs. 15 isnt a sign, per se, of quitting on the coach.

however this team HAS quit on a coach, and if that rep is following them its going to be evil. i mean how many of the kitchen quitters are even still here to get everyone to quit on a totally ifferent staff that had just taken them to the playoffs!?!? and peeps talk about messages being ignored after a while, i’m not sure i ever believed it, but come on! 2 years of listening is now too long? yowza!!!!

Paulie Walnuts

needs to get his ass off the ice on line changes much quicker.

For some fucking reason he has a fascination with staying on the wrong side of the blue line while lollygagging his way to the bench. In the past, it has resulted in offsides and, on occasion, a too many men call. Last night his lazy ass glided all the way from the opposite boards with Nabby as the only other player on that side of the blue line while his teammates had to pass the puck backward into the circle on Mason’s right so that there would not be an offside whistle while Paulie daydreamed his way across the ice. If he’d have moved 3’ to his right, there would have been the possibility of an odd-man rush.

For $6 mil, I could play that brand of head-up-my-ass hockey.

Let's go Blues!!!

by Milo. on Nov 15, 2009 5:00 PM CST up reply actions

Sounds like

he needs a serious rocket up his ass. I know it was mentioned that this no scoring streak has him “rattled”…but you’d think he’d be literally busting his balls to get up the ice and get things going.

And I wasn’t defending him….I was only saying I’d shag him (see…we females can be rather shallow too…lol)

LOL

Thank you for that. I did literally just laugh out loud.

He’s a nice bit of eye candy – but yes, he really has been a disappointment (along with a number of others) so far this year.

I keep on with this optimistic “he’ll have a breakout game soon” way of thinking – and I haven’t yet given up hope. He has not justified his salary by any stretch of the imagination.

Confused on the "fried chicken and mensturation" thing.

Craigslist is weird.

Anywho, a concern I had that popped into conversation over lunch today when one of my Thrashers bloggin’ buds asked me WTF was up with St. Louis, was the vibe from the young kids, most specifically in relation to the coach.

I’m not calling AM out, or saying Berglund was correct in saying that he wasn’t playing well because he was paranoid about being jumped on. But every time a complaint about a player is made in the press, it’s directed towards the young kids. Sometimes that helps them play harder, but after a while, it might weigh on them and make them figure “Well, if I screw up, he’s going to jump all over me, so I’ll play it safe.” It’s very, very shades of Bob Hartley, only probably not as bad (nothing tops benching Kovy for a whole game because he had a bad 3rd period the game before). I don’t think it’s entirely AM’s fault, but there’s a combination of problems here that need to be addressed one by one.

I played for a Captain Quieg type coach once

It was miserable, he was always having to prove he was in charge. His stifling punishment for the slightest transgressions got old real fast and it paralyzed our team. Players just got tired of getting yelled at and getting benched so they played it “safe” every practice and game. Several of us walked from that team, it was just to smothering under him.

I would think that by being the coach...

… you’re in charge. You need to get the team to respect you, but at the same time, once they do, you don’t have to constantly remind them that they have to.

Is David Backes going to cry every game?

If yes, can we please get Andy Murray to realize his choice of Captain and Assistants…he gets a douche award for his praise of Kariya after the Nashville game.

And for the record—-Darren Pang is a moron—-what freaking game is he watching? His color is the most glib shit I’ve ever heard and one might question his IQ—-probably about 35.

I will still say this . . .

anyone who wants to blame this all on the coaching staff is still invited to eat the Official Donut King Bag-O’-Dicks Deluxe™ (first referenced here).

Most of the players are paid a bunch more than the coach to play FOR that coach, and if they can’t figure out the scheme, then they’re fucking worthless and shouldn’t be here. To their credit, it appears most of the team is GETTING the system . . . it seems to be the handful of players that CAN’T get the system (or just suck out loud) that are fucking things up. And that needs to stop, and it starts with the players themselves.

One of those players seems to be (and I hoped I didn’t have to say this . . . ) the Captain (whom I shall no longer name by name). Or “The Captain Who Should Not Be Captain”. Whatever. Anyway, I can’t defend the guy any more. He’s not good, and I do realize that he was under a LOT of pressure because of who was traded for him, but it’s just PLAINLY obvious that he’s not as good as we could have hoped. Sorry about your luck . . . get out.

There are several other examples – some of whom I’m sure you could figure out just by watching – but that’s the glaring one.

And if you want to blame this on the coaches, go ahead. But eat that bag of dicks first, please. It’s for your benefit, and maybe it’ll shut you up in time to not say something you’ll regret.

5 games

10 points. the old game time i still have floating in my car is vol 1 number 4. it is a “battle for last” issue.

again i really expected we would never have to see another gt go out the door with a battle for last main page story, but if something doesnt happen soon, it will happen.

fire AM or not? who cares, i mean really at this point who cares. you can not fire/send to peoria, bench and trade every single person who has earned a kick in the ass and we all know what happens when too many people are failing at once. there is one ass with a huge target on it and it’s andy’s.

the game time poll suggests a change might be take the c from brewer. ya all know where i stand on brewer (his windpipe should the option ever arise) but really, yanking his c for noone or a team vote or whatever and leaving the guy on the roster. that is nothing but bad bad bad news. I still am looking for leadership, but from ALL the vets, the c isn’t a leader by rule 6.1. and nothing says you ain’t got a ‘c’ or an ‘a’ you can’t lead.. if we got a leadership crisis and the solution is to throw brewer under the bus while giving AM the kiss of death public “full ownershhip support” then the leadership issue is 10 times larger than even i fear it is.
