I wish him all the best in retirement... and a healthy and happy future with Craig Janney's wife.

Wow.

I knew he was going to retire after this year, but it’s still weird to not have anyone from those powerhouse Blues teams of the early 90s in the league anymore. When I was a little kid, I fell in love with CuJo, Janney, Shanahan, Hull, Oates, Jeff Brown, and the other guys that played here. I’ve always had a soft spot for the guys who played on the club back then, and Shanny retiring is officially the end of my hockey childhood (unless you count being annoyed that Chelios exists, then that’s still there).

I remember a game a few years ago, when Shanny was on the Rangers, here at Philips. It was Tobias Enstrom’s rookie year, and he was a target for everyone on the ice – he’s about 3 feet tall. Someone creamed Toby into the boards, and he crumpled to a heap, and didn’t get up. Brendan Shanahan was the only player on the ice to stand over there and make sure that he got up all right. That, right there, is the definition of class. There aren’t a lot of players of that old school left, and the league is poorer without him. Here’s hoping one of his teams finds him a place in their office. Well, ok… any of his teams but Detroit.

Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

One of my favorites.

Up until he played for those dickbags in Day-twat.

Still one of my overall favorite Blue Notes though. Certain future Hall of Famer if I had any authority in such a thing.

And the crack about Janney’s wife is comedy gold, Jessica!

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

shanny

top 10 in blues franchise goals scored. 15th in points, with only 277 blues games played

nhlwize 23rd in scoring, 11th in goals, 4th in ppg , 11th in games played,22nd in PIM, lots of top 30 finishes in playoff stats. so no way the hall can keep him out and be legit.

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
