Around SBN: Despite Relocation Drama, Coyotes Overcome Adversity

Dear Brewer Hater...

Dear BrewerHater...

Thank you for pointing yourself out for your stupidity in the first period when the Blues gave up their first goal to the Coyotes.  I kept an eye on you throughout the rest of the game.  Interestingly enough, I noticed that every good play Brewer made, you were turned around in your seat (as in, away from where the game was taking place) explaining to the other idiot behind you, why Brewer is not qualified as a defenseman.  I heard you talk about how he is a -1 now and how that adds to his lifetime +/-.

By the way, where were you when he kept that puck in the zone like a defenseman should, or when he made perfect outlet passes across 2 lines to an open forward?  Where were you when the Coyotes attempted to clear the puck on 3 unsuccessful powerplays and Brewer held it in like he should, and even put a few good shots on net?  Oh yeah, you were turned around away from the play talking about how much you know about hockey and how much you know Brewer sucks...

To Mister 307, Row A, Seat 11, FUCK YOU, and FUCK YOUR HOCKEY KNOWLEDGE.  Go eat shit, and don't ever let me hear you talk shit on the Blues again.  YOU PIECE OF SHIT!

I know, I know, the Blues won and I am as ecstatic as Paul Kariya getting credit for everyone else's work.  But fuck these people that show up at our games...yes OUR games.  Let them go be fair-weather to the Rams or the Cards...I am the first to say they are not welcome in OUR HOUSE!

LET'S GO BLUES!!! AND FUCK DETROIT AND FAIRWEATHER BLUES-BASHERS!!!

I was a little scared he was going to put in another last night. Thanksfully he didn’t!

No need,

to be a fan of Brewer, but what this guy did was not acceptable at a Blues game in St. Louis. I understand that he’s not what we gave up for him, but still, this guy waited for Brewer to be on the ice for a goal against us, and then spent the remainder of the 50 minutes of ice time railing on him because of it.

Brewer leaves a lot to desire, I understand that. But if you’re going to act like this douchebag around me, you better be ready to stand up for it (obviously not pointed at ANYONE that participates in Game Time).

i dont like brewer but

you cant represent the blues like that

Somliga tänker på framtiden och upprörd. Fheiceáil de börjar raket och skyddsrum. Fheiceáil De TJ Oshie, börja ett nedfallet tak. "

Yeah.

If you want to rag on the home team in public, go to a Rams game. Everyone joins in there.

Let's go Blues!!!

Well said Patel. I’m probably going write a “Hey, Brewer doesn’t really suck that bad” column for the paper one of these nights.

So....

If you write a “Brewer doesn’t really suck column”, are you going to throw out a “Kariya, $6 bust for the Blues”? or “Jay McClement – our new stud forward”?

McClement makes a quarter of what Kariya makes and I’d take 1 McClement over 4 Kariya’s these days.

by KeenanEatsIt on Nov 20, 2009 12:36 PM CST up reply actions

The difference between Kariya and Brewer is simple

Kariya has been great before, and has the capability to be close to that again. He still has speed and he still has a scoring touch even if he is slumping right now.

Brewer on the other hand used to be talked about as having “potential” He had an upswing in Edmonton and has be only slightly better than average since. He never has been, nor will he ever be, a great defensemen.

Remember a few years ago when we had another great shutdown forward who was a PK wizard. Oh Yeah that was one of the Johnson boys, Ryan. I like those guys and every team needs them. But don’t think that player is a rare find. Yan Stastny is on his way too.

The thing about Brewer

Defensemen, like any other player, are only noticed when the do something great or something stupid. Who can forget Mark Bergevin throwing the puck in his own yet a few years ago? Either way, last night I didn’t notice Brewer which tells me he had a decent game. Granted I would love for him to get in the middle of some of the fist-a-cuffs instead of just stand there but a non-noticed game is better than what we have been seeing from the entire team lately!

by KeenanEatsIt on Nov 20, 2009 12:31 PM CST reply actions

I do no like Brewer and I am not shy about it.

Bu I don’t spend the entire game railing on him either. I made a verbal remark about how Captain Minus adds another to his tally on the first goal, and I don’t think I said shit about him after that.

He makes some good plays and he has the ability to skate the puck into the offensive zone and he does make decent outlet passes. He is also a large body that can’t throw his weight effectively and he has a tendency to put himself out of position while playing offense.

He is what he is, which is a decent top 4 NHL defensemen. He is not a #1 defensemen and he does not display leadership abilities. The most frustrating thing about Brewer is the Blues’ love affair and need to hype this guy. I don’t care what we gave up for him, that is a BS argument as at this point in time Pronger is as irrelevant in St. Louis as Shannahan is. Neither one will ever wear the Bluenote again. Period. Brewer is not a bad Dman, But he is not a great on either and I am pissed that that is what this team keeps trying to convince me of.

I agree

But I didn’t want to accidentally join the ranks of those other two forums when I posted this. I know that for some odd reason Brewer seems to polarize us Blues fans.

My intention is not to argue for or against him, at least not here. We all know there are lower places on the interweb to do that…i’m not calling out Brewer haters. Just a special type of “fan” that has no welcomed place anywhere near me, and that is the type of fan either through ignorance or just plain douchebag…ance that hates any player so much they forget the three simple words used to give our team charge. In the now immortal words of John Hamm (and just as quietly):
Let’s.
Go.
Blues.

Brewer's "C"

I keep hearing this over and over. He’s not a #1 defenseman. But the team, in the locker room, where we aren’t allowed, and so we don’t know what goes on in there , voted him the captain, for whatever reason. It was not a management decision, at least as far as anyone has said. You don’t have to be a fiery, demonstrative guy on the ice to be an effective captain.

So for all of you who want his “C” to go away… how do you propose doing it?

AM picks a captain, overruling the wishes of the players, causing more strife in the locker room. See Keenan, Mike.

Management picks a captain, sticking their nose where it doesn’t belong. The worst owners are the guys who think that just because they sign the checks and do well in their fantasy league, that they are qualified to make judgments about the on-ice (on-field) product. See Snyder, Daniel. You really want to piss a team off and remove their motivation?

The team trades him. Nobody’s going to take his salary on. We could probably get a used Zamboni for him, or some stiff. While many think that would be an improvement, who would take his minutes? EJ? Eventually, yes. Coming off major knee surgery and only a second-year player? Probably not. Pietrangelo? Not a big enough body yet. Call Junland up? I think they’re keeping him for trade fodder (even if I think it’s a mistake), so for whatever reason, that’s not gonna happen. Strachan? Weaver? Sydor? Cola? Give them more minutes on the PK and against the other teams’ top forwards night in and night out?

The options are limited. He plays smaller than he is, he’s not the smartest guy on the blue line, and he may not seem like he’s the team captain type on ice, but the locker room is where the decision was made, and for better or worse, that’s what the team has to live with.

As a guy who will no longer name the Blues' captain by name . . .

I have to agree with you on this one. It’s one thing to rag on a guy while you’re watching at home when nothing happens . . . it’s totally different when you rag on a guy when nothing happens WHILE YOU’RE SUPPOSEDLY WATCHING THE GUY IN PERSON! So yeah . . . this guy sounds like a total cockhammer douche.

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

I sit in 303 for half the games.

There is a nut up and to the left of me who screans “Brewer you suck” about 12 times a game no matter what. Brewer aint Pronger and never will be no matter how much anybody screams. Give it a rest Brewer haters.

You can hear the douche in 311 all the way over in 303?

Let's go Blues!!!
