As we all know, today is the beginning of the Christmas season. That means, terrible Christmas music. I'll have one of my "favorites" on Monday, but since it's Friday here's a little standup to make you you hate Christmas music.
That's it for the week. Poor College Student has keys this weekend. Who will the Slumpbuster turn his attention to this weekend? GDT tonight, I'll be there. Will you?

I've said it once, I'll say it again . . .
PUCK THE FREDATORS!!!!!
(Hey now . . . that came out wrong.)
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
top defensive forwards
don’t forget that Backes is #21 on the list (though i would like him to make a dent as an “offensive forward”)
From the ESPN article about the Preds and Sommet:
Sommet, which handles human resources administration, human resources administration, payroll and risk management services, put its name on the arena in May 2007.
Good editor, assholes.
Strickland just twittered.....
…that it looks like Brewer wont play tonight due to a “nagging” injury.
Some days its just not worth chewing through the restraints
trade flu?
saving the product for the best price?
Some days its just not worth chewing through the restraints
Maybe Brewer shouldn't fight
didn’t he separate a shoulder in a fight last year?
Some days its just not worth chewing through the restraints
I think he did.
It did concern me that a guy who came back not too long ago from a back surgery was roughing someone up.
Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?
Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.
On the note of defense
I haven’t had a lot of time or ability to watch other teams play this year so watching the Sens vs. Ottawa, I can actually get a much better feel for the Blues style in comparison. Our forwards are infinitely better at backchecking and staying strong positionally on defense keeping teams to the outside. Murray has to get a lot of credit for making everyone give a shit about defense (even Boyes this year) and it shows with the #6 GAA. The shots we give up are so much weaker compared to the chances going back and forth in this game and that to me helps explain Mason’s high save%. Don’t get me wrong, Mason has played really well, but our team defense is just obviously better than these teams (granted CBJ suck really, really badly at defense).
On the flip side though that means our breakouts suck and we have a lot less space in the neutral zone to work. But that’s okay 5v5 given our work in our zone, that’s our style. Not to beat a dead horse, but the abomination of the PP’s inability to enter the zone is embarrassing. It’s a simple fucking formula, skate up the ice with speed to enter the zone—-we have 5 guys they have 4 guys, take adfuckingvantage of this fact. You shouldn’t be getting neutral zone trapped on the PP. How many times have we passed it to a guy standing at the boards on the blue line where he has to skate away from the offensive zone? Stop it, enter the zone with speed. But it’s fixable and watching these other teams give me confidence that we’re better than our record.
Not afraid to nitpick
Jiggy and the Ducks shut out the Blackhawks today 3-0
Teemu had 2 PP goals to stop the Hawks from tying their 9 game win streak record from last Dec.
Let’s grab them two points tonight and pull closer to the paste eaters from Chicago.
We need the Flames to kick Detwat in the teeth too tonight.
LET’S GO BLUES!!
