McDonald and Jackman to play

According to Jeremy Rutherford's twitter, both Andy McDonald and Barret Jackman are fit and expected to play today against Atlanta.

Question is...where does this leave Lars Eller?  As he was brought up under emergency conditions, does he have to go back to Peoria before being called up again or can the Blues simply switch his status to normal and sit someone like Winchester?

I'd love Eller to stay  - although I'm really glad to see McDonald back, I think Eller has proven that he deserves to be in the NHL now.  Fingers crossed that JD & Co realise that too.

Eller should

be able to stay on the roster, since DJ King and Alex Steen are on IR; you have a 23-man limit, and the Blues are at 23 even with Jackman coming off IR. I don’t believe Eller would have to pass through waivers to go back to Peoria, but I Could Be Wrong™!

Eller would not have to pass through waivers.

So we don’t have to worry about that.

Skeet

Has earned his spot on the roster as far as I’m concerned. I hope they find a way to keep him up this season. The kid works and is fun to watch.

You can't call me a fair weather Blues fan.

I think a good question is

Can we send him down to Peoria then call him up like 5 minutes later? If the Blues send Eller down while Winchester continues to get PT, I’ll feel the need to bas my skull many many times

You and me both.

I must once again apologize for my lack of hockey experience in advance, but it seems to me like this team is proving thus far that it does take SOME amount of skill to score goals in this league. Eller has skill – hell, he’s already shown it in only 2 games. Moreso than Winchester, IMVHO. The Oshie/Skeet/Boyes line had some spunk last night.

YAY

Eller stays!!!! Sydor and Tkachuk to sit out tonight.

This is on Jeremy Rutherford’s morning skate:

Lars was brought up under emergency conditions when McDonald went down. But the Blues have room on their roster, so it’s just a matter of taking away Eller’s "emergency" designation and making him a regular call up.

The coaching staff believes that Eller has played well, and there are no immediate plans to send him back to Peoria.

It's time to earn your post

Bring it every shift or you’re sitting on the pine or sent down. We can’t afford players who want to mail it in anymore.

Are hockey benches made of pine anymore? Aluminum?

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
