The Manny signing news is true.
Ben (the Thrashers web guy) just forwarded a tweet from the Canes’ twitter feed about it. Congrats to Manny – I’m glad that someone’s giving him another shot. It’s unfortunate that it took Cam Ward getting his leg half sliced off to do it, though.

I don't think Manny
was whining so much about money as he was whining about the uncertainty of his future when his team doesn’t renew his contract and goes out and signs someone else for more money. Yea… he got a little whiny about it all, but to be honest, it was a pretty shady way to handle the situation.
Manny had played his balls off the previous two years, and the management was making it look like that effort wasn’t appreciated. Can’t really blame him for that kind of response.

Godspeed to Cam Ward.
That shit looked brutal.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

Especially when it necessitates 6 weeks of not being allowed to move.
I don’t think he’s allowed out of the hospital until Friday.
