Adios, Jonas: Junland sent back to Peoria after one game
Jonas Junland is heading back to Peoria. I guess this means Carlo Colaiacovo is feeling better. All of those wondering about Alex Pietrangelo getting the shaft can breathe easier.
I'm beginning to wonder what the future holds for young Jonas. His comments yesterday about deserving a shot seem like someone who is not happy in the AHL. Is he the young d-man who gets shipped out, or does he just jump ship to Sweden or the KHL?

i have to say
it wasnt a great game by jonus. now does one game make that big a career breaker? not really, but when you are fighting for a position in a deep deep field ya gotta be firing great games every chance ya get.

Really hard to judge him...
… on one game, especially in those circumstances. He got the phone call Monday morning, which means that he missed the morning skate with the rest of the Blues. Jumps on a plane (were the Rivermen in Peoria, or somewhere even less travel-friendly?), and gets to Columbus. Practice with his new teammates? None. Film study and pregame prep? Maybe some notes to read on the plane. Do the Blues protect him by pairing him with, say, Polak or Jackman or even Sydor? Nope – he gets thrown out there in the bottom pairing with Weaver. Frankly, it’s pretty amazing the kid wasn’t -6.
Give him a week or two to practice with the big club, and settle into a defined role, and then judge him. One game – wham, bam, get your ass back to P-town – doesn’t really answer anything.
I’m surprised they sent him back down, to be honest. I thought he’d get a longer opportunity, to let the front office determine whether they want to re-sign him in the summer or trade him before the deadline. Maybe they’ve already made up their minds.
i understand that :)
and said it. and i still want to see him and i believe it is in the best interest of the blues to see what he has going into a new contract
BUT the blues have too many d-men, and if you don’t impress you don’t dress :) Jonas didn’t impress. hopefully he didn’t sour andy on him or anything. we will see if anything bad happened next time they call up a d-man. If it ain’t jonas, something ain’t good
