Over/Under

Whats the official St. Louis Game Time over/under for number of fans that will boo Wayne Gretzky on Tuesday night?

Pay no attention to this just trying to get over 75 words

This is the story of two sisters. Jessica Tate and Mary Campbell. These are the Tates, and these are the Campbells, and this is Soap.

Burt: Seven of my guys are going to be off today 'cause it's a Jewish holiday and I'm gonna have to do all their jobs. What really gets me is that I don't think they're all Jewish... two of them are black and one's an Indian.

Meh.

It’s been so long ago that I could care the fuck less anymore.

Maybe half the crowd.

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

Dan,

I think they’re referring to that one guy who is a shitty shitty coach, formerly of those dogs from out Southwestward. I think his wife was involved with some sort of shady dealings with his assistant coach and some swarthy guy named Vinny.

Sometimes, I wonder why hockey came south of St. Louis, and then I realize, I'm south of St. Louis. Coincidence, I think not.

Was he a hockey player too?
If so, I think I may know who you guys are referring to… Meh.. who cares… wait.. wtf were we talking about again?
Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Your contract is up, and you think you only have a few seasons left in the tank.

Do you blame someone in that position for not playing under Mike Keenan? There is a word for acting all butthurt because Gretzky left because of a coach that is, to this day, roundly reviled around town.

That word is dumb. However, if you’re a Keenan fan, by all means, hate away.

A question.. (or two)

Can you imagine WG playing in today’s NHL?

Can you imagine him getting checked by Oshie, or even nASH for that matter, and being able to play like he did before? untouched?

Granted, I think he is highly skilled and is awesome in his own way, but seriously, can you imagine in today’s NHL a moderately talented forward being able to play w/o being touched and givin all the room he got back then?

Just sayin…

There are two different eras in the NHL regarding this.

Keep in mind, I’m a fairly young hockey fan (only a decade or so)…so my knowledge is limited regarding anything previous to 1999. (Notice I didn’t say I’m young)

Did you SEE Gretzky play live?

I did. I’m not talking about when he was with the Blues. With the Oilers, or even the Kings. I can’t believe anyone who saw him play in his heyday could call him “moderately talented”. He was the best I’ve ever seen. I will let you argue Wayne vs Mario – I only saw Mario play a couple of times.

He should never have started coaching. He was a player, not a coach. And his history in Phoenix has tarnished his legacy terribly.

The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. But that's the way to bet. - Damon Runyon

If you were replying to me

I have seen him, live. But that was back when I was so knew to the sport, I didn’t know what I was watching, except ice hockey. (and I actually don’t remember seeing him, I just know that I did). I think this may have been AFTER his heyday anyway.

It wasn’t until after I started reading Game Night Revue and going to a lot of games (after becoming a season ticket holder) that I started truly understanding the game and appreciating the players talents (and recognizing/appreciating talent).

BTW, not to put too fine a point on it… I DID NOT SAY WAYNE WAS MODERATELY TALENTED ! ! !

OK, maybe I did put a fine point on it. Sorry…

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
