Family Rivalries

I have a brother in law that is saying that the Blues are mostly expendable with the exception of Perron or Oshie, Backes, and Johnson.  He believes that Coli is our second best d-man, but Johnson is at best a Second line dman.  Brewer, he believes, is the next best man to Coli, but is ahead of Coli defensively.  He goes to lots of games and says that Jackman is useless and makes the worst passes on the team.  He believes that Bergs is expendable (I agree for Staal, Kovalchuk, or Nash) but otherwise no.  He thinks Pietr is a bust and we should trade him now.  He still thinks that Perron or Oshie have to go to make the team better.  He thinks that Tkachuk and Jackman are not leaders and have never been.  Kariya is useless and has been since ever.  Now my brother in law has been on a roller hockey team throughout his life, (lol I have been for the most part) and knows hockey better than any fan that has to watch the games at home instead of in the lower bowl.  I know he is a fan, but also full of himself beyond anything.  I want to know what the educated hockey fans of gametime think of this.  I have to continue my tirade in that he believes that Boyes is a lucky 40 goal scorer and we have no potential 30 goal scorers on the team.  We did agree that Kovalchuk would be an amazing addition, but we disagreed on who would be expendable.  He seems to think that the Blues should be good now and get rid of the young forwards and older defensemen.  Except he thinks that Brewer is right where he should be developmental wise.  So please let me hear your thoughts.  I am really needing to hear some educated thoughts about this issue.

He's fucking wrong.

That’s all I’ve got.

Sometimes, I wonder why hockey came south of St. Louis, and then I realize, I'm south of St. Louis. Coincidence, I think not.

Cracked up reading this

I think he’s on crack.
Better get him drug tested and get your sister out of that relationship.

I think your brother-in-law is a douchebag.

And before you try to convince me otherwise . . . I’ve been known to call a spade a spade.

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

I really appreciate the comments

I would still like to see what your objections are to his arguments specifically. Did I mention it is hard to convince him of anything that he thinks is wrong? It gets hard to argue hockey with him because he is so all knowing. Thanks for letting me vent to some real fans!

OK

Brewer needs to go he way overpaid for the lack of leadership and skill he brings.

Johnson is very much a 1st pairing blueliner, considering hes in the top 10 offensively for d-man, and hes not to shabby as a dman.

Cola is what we thought he could be, 2nd pairing dman who can occasionally score.

Perron is someone that needs to be absolutely untouchable, and honestly needs some effing confidence

Oshie same boat- too much a fan favorite to trade and puts butts in the seats.

Petro, how can he say hes a bust when hes 19 and the blues dont allow him to play…your brother in law is a total tool in that aspect and i entirely question his hockey knowledge

Kariya is way overpaid and near the end of his career

Boyes needs to learn not aim just shoot

and Backes you cant trade talk about losing the heart and soul of the team, and yes he is a potential 30 goal scorer. If walt can net 50 so can backes

Tkachuk is still one of my favorite players but i dont see him as a leader anymore

I do think you need to ship out Bergs for a big name

Jackman is a Defensive Dman and will always be, his passing may suck but i bet you your brother in law cant do any better then jackman otherwise he would be getting paid to play

Pujols takes out "I" in BIG and "A" in MAC, previously considered to be an unyielding, consonant threat

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
