thats a bullshit suspension

both players had the gloves off and were engaged.. just cuz carcillo is faster than bradley doesnt mean you penalize carcillo… dont get me wrong i hate the guy.. i dont think he brings anything to the game.. but i dont think he deserves a suspension for that.. how does bradley get away with not gettin a fighting major as well.. he dropped his gloves to.. and yet he got off with no penalty on the play.. i dont understand the nhl sometimes

He didn't really drop the gloves.

He saw a fist hurling towards his face and attempted to defend himself. But, due to the sucker-ness of the punch, he was unsuccessful.

Whatever it takes?

For screencap proof . . .

see the screencap above this comment thread.

Should’ve gotten about 6 for that one. He got lucky only getting 4.

Yeah but...

2 nano seconds later if you do a screen capture you see Bradley shucking his gloves AND then getting clocked.

Dude challenges you, cross checks you and you wanna get in his face? You’re going to get poked every time. More like Bradley was trying to draw a call and got punched when it turned into a fight.

But if you look at the video . . .

the gloves had barely hit the ice when Carcillo embedded his fist into Bradley’s face.

I dunno, Bradley looked like a guy who didn’t want to fight, much less did he want to fight Carcillo, who could probably kill a live bear if given the opportunity.

The other side is that the fight didn’t work . . . Washington outscored Philly 7-1 the rest of the game.

If you don't wanna fight

don’t go circling a guy who wants some and stick your chin out in range. Just skate away, or at least keep some distance. It looked like Bradley was trying to draw a penalty, which he did, but staying in range while yapping a know willing fighter is not wise.

Post FAIL

Bradley won’t make this mistake again. I did this in juniors and got popped 3 times before I knew what hit me. After that I kept my paws up so no one could get in a cheap one early. Wendall Clark from the Leafs used to do this to win many fights.

yeah but,

I’m not sure if you’ve ever played hockey, but its pretty much instinct to drop your gloves in this situation.. with gloves on you cant tie up very easily and you don’t have alot of offensive capabilities. The Caps player realized he was in a fight, about the same time a fist was smashing into his nose.

Whatever it takes?

Re-reading your post..

it appears you have played so maybe you will understand.

also, even if Bradley was willing to fight, it doesn’t change the fact that it was a sucker-punch.

Whatever it takes?

That’s what Emeril Lagasse would say!
