Blues trade!
The Blues have traded dman Brendan Bell and forward Tomas Kana to the Columbus Winter Coats for LW Pascal Pelletier. 26 y.o. Pelletier has Crunched 16 points (3 goals) in 25 games with Syracuse (AHL). Check out his stats from last season with Rockford ( what in the hell is an Ice Hog, anyway?). He will report to the Rivermen, who have an almost identical record as the Blues, only they can score, averaging three goals a game. Jonas Junland leads the team with 6 goals and 14 assists and a +5.

Wooo, a depth trade. If I remember right, wasn’t Brendan Bell a pretty good prospect?
Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?
Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.
Yeah he had a shot to make the roster
I think it was Toronto that cut him. Apparently had a good amount of offense potential just needed to work on D. Guess we had too many people down in The Peoria.
He was a threat to make the big club this year.
I believe he came down from Ottawa as a UFA.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
Kana was a somewhat wasted pick....
1st pick in the 2nd round if i remember right…the year we picked up Johnson 1st overall.
Maaaan
Giving up the only player in the trade to have put up an NHL point as well as a prospect (admited, one that hasn’t exactly been worth much and couldn’t stick in the AHL) for a player who’se basically a mane stay in Peoria? Eh.
Guess it keeps TJ Fast on the Peoria roster though.

Yeah, looking at it a little more
The Blues have plenty of young D-Men that deserve a shot (Bell has to be below Junland and Stratchan on the call up list, and his spot will basically become null in void when Cole arrives either late this year or whenever) Sooo I guess it’s a movie of deal a guy we didn’t really need for a player that has some uses in the minors at least

Not sure I like this one.
I was kind of hoping Bell would see some icetime in STL seeming as he had better numbers last year than Polak and was on Ottawa. It will be interesting to see how this trade pans out, but the guy is already 26 and has limited NHL experience and even less success. At least Bell had some decent numbers in his short career. I thought you could never have too much depth on defense, but apparently I was wrong.
hmm
"We’re excited to have Pascal Pelletier,’’ said McDonald, the Blues assistant general manager and director of pro scouting, and Rivermen general manager.

The Blues still have plenty of depth on d: Junland, Strachan, Justin Fletcher…and highly ranked amateurs in the pipeline.
Note I did NOT include Steve Wagner, who is struggling mightily (-12). And I didn’t forget Pietrangelo; it’s just not certain where he will be playing in January.
Offense is the problem and this is a player that management feels is worth taking a gamble on. And Dave Eminian seems to like him a lot!!!
I’ll (hopefully) see him play in person Saturday night and will let you know my observations from Carver Arena.
I’m hoping I will have a lot to report. I will try and find a way to see what Jonas Junland and Lars Eller have to say about their hockey world…
