Legace to Buffalo??

Hey, I saw this and thought it would make for good speculation fodder. The author lays out some good logic with this. I wonder what kind of price we could ask, considering Manny was sent down to Peoria, and he'd have to clear re-entry waivers (I think).

that dude watches “The Usual Suspects” too much…

if we recalled Manny in attempt to trade him, what’s to stop Buffalo from swiping him up off waivers for free?
if we require something in return, what if they were to send Afinogenov to the minors (likely no one would take him off waivers for his contract and his recent lackluster ways (well maybe Atlanta. they got one diamond that needs help and they have lots of money to burn)) and we could make a minor league trade, him for Legace, and all they got to do is recall him….. nah, too much hassle. nevermind.
besides, I can totally see the Devils unloading Weekes when Brodeur returns

There have been lots of Maxim to Atlanta rumors, each for viable players that we probably need to keep and who get hurt substantially less than he does. Waivers, yeah, we’d probably take him too (our waiver-wire pick up has rocked – Peverley has been a godsend).

Manny to the Slugs makes some sense, since they’re in a playoff position, but like you have said, why not get him for free? Manny to DC works too, since Johnson is off-again, on again hurt and Theodore is just flukey.

The only problem with us getting Legace is an inherent issue with Lalime. Since Lalime has a two-year contract, bringing in any veteran to replace Miller essentially tells our backup what we think of him.

not neccessarilly. Latrine should get every chance to take over the starting duties. Manny would just be taking HIS place as the backup. if Lalame slips, then they split duties. it’s just team ethics that the job is his to lose

I gotta disagree, Dooks. These goalies are all nuts. Manny essentially admitted it in his exit interview: he was off-kilter all year because the Blues signed a guy during the summer to be his back-up who got paid more than him.

Coolman is right, goalies are tempermental, fragile beings. You can’t underestimate what any personnel move will do their psyche.

Calgary, Buffalo, the Caps, whoever, just let it happen already. Call the guy up, let him go through re-entry and get snatched up by a team who needs him. What are we going to get for him anyway, like a third rounder at best?

But that third rounder could be the next Henrik Zetterberg!!!

You mean seventh rounder right?

Because that’s where he was drafted.

Anyway I’d trade him to Buffalo or anywhere. He’s done with the Blues anyway. So whatever we can get for him if we can get anything is a blessing. He still would have to pass re-entry waivers and good luck with that.

Hope we trade Tkachuk as well. We still have a chance but after watching us crash two out three big games I wouldn’t be convinced enough to keep the fat one around for the push. Bring up Regier or somebody shit. Oh and time to say bye bye to Hinote if there’s anybody that wants that turd. Yan should be traded to Colorado so he can play with his brother. Like the kid but he’s not offering enough offensive upside. Would be great if we some how worked out a deal where by we can say good by to the fragile one. Hell shit’s looking up to me already.

I’ll be okay not making this year. there’s been a shit ton of kids that have impressed. I hope the Wild sign Backstrom so we can snake up Harding. Or if not maybe there is a god and we sign Backstrom. He’s a great goalie but don’t forget his stats have to be slightly padded with Minny’s defense first style.

We lost our chance at signing John Tortarella it looks like. If only…if only.
