Monday Morning Links
I don't know about you guys, but that weekend felt short to me -- like an hour short. Weird. Anyway, great links this weekend. The "Breakfast of the Gods" was epic. Nice work, Poor College Student. Let's get to today's links.
Blues news
- In case you have been living under a rock, the Blues are in a playoff hunt. Shockingly, it's not going to be an easy road.
- Here's your Game Time Prospect Department with news from the minors:
Nick Drazenovic's 10th goal of the year in the third period was the game winner; Legace stops 30 of 32 shots as Peoria beats the Chicago Wolves 3-2 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont (just down Mannheim Road from O'Hare Airport).
- The trade deadline has come and gone but more news is still coming out. The Bruins trade to get Keith Tkachuk.
- Also from the deadline ... the Blues tried to get Pronger but balked at the asking price.
- Are the Blues really doing so poor financially that are among the 10-most troubled teams?
Hockey news
- The Blues are still 12th.
- Yesterday's scores, today's games. Vancouver needs to win in regulation to help the Blues cause.
- The General Managers are going to meet this week. WIth the economy in the shitter what are they going to talk about? Fighting of course.
- Future NHL top-pick John Tavares breaks the OHL goal-scoring record.
- From Puck Daddy, the Washington Fans creatively don't like Sidney Crosby.
- I'd put money down on Rick Tocchet getting a new contract in Tampa.
- The Phoenix Coyotes are trying to sell the team ... but not for any offer.
Other news
- Like sports injuries? Click this.
- The full article is really interesting, but here are the highlights. I guess I'd be in the 57% since I've moved around Missouri but still haven't left.

The only time I will ever see this: I wish I was this Boston fan.
That will do it for the links

regarding the article about “home”
I lived in the same god damn town in the same god foresaken house for my entire life. I cannot wait to get out of this hell hole. After I graduate from college I hope to move somewhere warm, perferably the southern coastline because I love the beach. Fuck my family I’m leaving.

Its an easier thing to say when you are young...
…I’ve lived in Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, New Zealand, Minnesota, Ohio, and now Wisconsin… those first 21 years of life when I lived in the same house in St Louis dont seem so bad.

I thoroughly agree… I’d kill to be back in St. Louis. Part of that is an idealized image of my childhood (I’m sure the neighborhood I grew up in off of Colgate in Granite City’s the same, but that town’s gone increasingly south since before I moved), part of that is the fact that I hate it down here, and part of it is the fact that sometimes you move somewhere that you just don’t feel like you belong.
But then again, if I lived in Detroit I’d run away screaming.

Granite City is a fucking ghost town now.
The only reason to go there is Corral,
Used to be Aaron, but some douchebag Celtics fan has that one already.

Also I was just a little south of you for a while.
We lived on E. 23rd till we moved to Highland around 88 or so.

That's what I heard...
I have a great aunt who goes up to St. Louis every year to stay with a cousin (who lives in Bellfontaine Neighbors, if you want an example of someplace that’s changed completely in the past 30 years – yeesh) and she goes around visiting people that she knows. She said it’s pretty damned depressing. I love the St. Louis metro area, but I wouldn’t live to the immediate east if my life depended on it – Fairview Heights or Edwardsville, sure., but no way would I move back to Granite. East StL and Venice have been encroaching on that area for waaaay too long.

yeah, that trade would have been pretty good. i have to say though I think the money/term we’re going to see thrown at kessel this offseason either by the B’s or the dreaded offer sheet is going to be borderline ridiculous.
