Our Handshake With SLGT

Beer_toast_medium

Mike's Handshake

OK, so you kind of, sort of, wanted our team dead or perhaps physically incapacitated with extreme, blunt prejudice. And maybe by extension us. No worries, it happens.

The Blues aren't going anywhere. Like the Jackets, and I assume Kings next year, you can tell where the youth is going to be well served and St. Louis is the definition of that. Just getting Johnson back and unleashing Pietrangelo shows an embarrassment of riches and I didn't even mention Brewer or Kariya. Or any free agency moves you'll make in the off season. Or the fact you have a coach that can understand youth (as his pending Jack Adams will attest to). Or the fact your GM has a long term strategy. Or the fact McDonald is a franchise guy and Perron, Oshie and Backes are legit go-to guys for many seasons to come.

Or the fact that the folks who comprise the SLGT world are some of the most passionate I've ever seen. That whole" bleed blue" thing isn't just marketing. The website you call home is a class act and that's something to be proud of.

And a glove tap to everyone who found a way to push a few bucks going towards the Canucks For Kids Foundation and/or the 14 Fund from our pre-series wager. Hopefully our combined efforts will make a difference somewhere to someone.

Since both SLGT and NM have been referencing songs the past week, I'll end with a one from Flogging Molly's "The Kilburn High":

Your empty glass is but a tear-filled eye

I could be reading the context entirely wrong (quite likely in fact), but I've always enjoyed that line. It says to me keep your glass full and your head up and all will be fine. That's my cheers to you.

See ya again soon, perhaps we'll pick up where we left off.

PS - Fuck Detroit.

Zandberg's Handshake

I just want to thank nearly all the people at St. Louis Game Time for the fun ride that it has been. SLGT continually amazed me as the series wore on. The fans are about as aggressive as the Blues team was on the ice. Not a bad thing. When you are that passionate about something nobody can take that from you or alter it.

To be honest, sometimes these rivalries create enemies and that's just the way it goes. To the enemies, I shake your hand as well.

It’s good to see hockey alive an well in St. Louis… SLGT followers seem passionate enough to dish it out just as well as any hockey market I’ve seen!

Good series, guys.

Hats off to the Blues and SLGT

Incredible series with great emotion and intensity. Playoff hockey at its best.
Super young team which should scare the shit out of everyone. 4 games was unthinkable from my standpoint.
Great bunch of fans on a great site. Entertaining and knowledgable.
Until next year…
Cheers!

thanks for a great series, you guys.

you sure gave us hell out there, both on the two websites and on the ice.
it’s obvious that you guys will be a huge team in the next couple years.
see ya next year!

you know how those rotten flamers like chanting "fuck the canucks" because it rhymes?
well, it just so happens that "fuck the flames" uses alliteration, for which more superior intellect is required compared to rhyme.
fuck the flames, and GO CANUCKS GO!

Thanks SLGT

Except for a little bit of trigger-happy refereeing in game one, this series was exciting hockey from start to finish. The 4-0 series victory was extremely flattering to us; the competition was fierce. Your Blues were a team that I had never really known much about up until maybe the last couple weeks of the season, and I’m thoroughly impressed. I hope we don’t face you in the first round next year!

If all goes to plan, hopefully we play Chicago next round and Detroit in the Conference finals, and we’ll give them the old “fuck you” from our friends in St. Louis.

I like the sound of that last part...

Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

that trigger happy refereeing saved you guys a goal last night. not an excuse, just pointing it out. congrats.

St. Louis just couldn’t buy a break hey? Jeez. That disallowed goal was the icing on the cake.

congrats

even though we lost, i am not sad. i am not disappointed. we had a great season and were outplayed in the playoffs. there were a few calls(or lack thereof) from the refs that everybody knows were bullshit. thats the way shit goes. a true championship team can overcome adversity in all situations and come out on top. congrats to the Vancouver Canucks as well as all of their fans, with much respect.

on a side note, at the beginning of game 4, i still heard people booing when Charles Glenn sang O’ Canada. i want all of the canucks fans and the team to know that these werent blues fans booing. they were definitely bandwagon fans because NO St. Louis Blues fan would ever disrespect the anthem of the nation who created and dominates hockey as far as players are concerned.

Just because I hate your team...

doesn’t mean I hate you*. If I don’t hate your team, well, than your team must suck.

*Unless we’re talking about Detroit.

Great Series

Even though I haven’t made many comments over the course of the series, I’ve visited both the Nucks Misconduct and St Louis Game Time many times and would like to come here to offer my handshake as a Canuck fan. It was a hard fought series and exciting to watch. Your team looks to have a bright future, so hopefully you aren’t too heartbroken when your season ended like that. Your fans have generally shown a lot of class in places like this and others online. Thanks and Good luck!

Is it weird that the olive branch ending of “PS – Fuck Detroit” may be one on the sweetest things I’ve heard/read in quite some time? ’Cause it was.

Hopefully, it’ll be a while before I hear Chris Kerber utter the phrase “Save by Luongo” again, but in the mean time, give ’em hell next round!

I gave a tip of the hat earlier on this post…but, I’ll do it again.

StL is going to be a force to contend with in the coming year…we’ll keep an eye on you guys, for sure.

I raise a beer (or 2 or 3) to the Blues and their fans

This series was not a sweep. Every game was edge of the seat, bite my nails, pee my pants, please, please, please, geez we were lucky to escape with a win, type game.

And when the series moved to St. Louis, we got to see the fans and see how great they are and how loudly they supported their team.

I take back all the bad things I said, swallowed them and chased it with some beers.

Luongo is the friggin man. And I'd love Burrows in the BlueNote.

Congrats to the Canucks and their fans. Good luck next round. And Fuck Detwat.

Favorite David Backes quotes:

"I'd I hope St. Louis feels good that they matched the offer sheet."

"Hopefully they haven't canceled our trip to Vancouver because we plan on using that plane."

Good job Vancouver.

As a Blues fan I’m still bummed, hockey playoffs aren’t the same w/out The Blues.
Oh, and Fuck Detroit.
