Al Hrabovsky
Just a little something I noticed last night that ticked me off pretty good.
After the Blues went down 2-0 I flipped it over to the Cardinals game (yes, we broadcast them in Memphis, too) just to check the score during a break.
McLaughlin asked Al what the score to the Blues game was as he had been checking out the tv and Hrabovsky (I'm not sure I'm spelling it right) dismissed it and said that he was watching baseball. Then Dan said "I saw you looking at the tv back there, what's the score?" and he said "I made them change it to baseball."
I just didn't like the way he handled it. That's another sports franchise in your city. Show some freaking support. I thought it was completely inappropriate and insulting to the Blues.
I texted my brother and he said Al was most likely drunk anyway. I'm going to send an email to the station and the Cardinals... I was livid last night when I heard the way he responded.
Anyway, go Blues! Thanks for the wonderful season! Best season I've ever enjoyed as a fan of the team. Just sad I don't get to watch them any more.

What'll this lead to?
At the most, a reprimand from the station for mild disparagement of another team the station is affiliated with (and in next season’s case, that’s a FULL commitment) and maybe a small chunk off the next paycheck.
Likely outcome? None of the above.
I wouldn’t expect that kind of douchebaggery from Al Hrabosky. If that’s what he said, that’s bullshit that shouldn’t be tolerated.

Al is kind of a drunk idiot.
So I really wasn’t surprised to read this.

He probably said it just to
piss of Dan McLaughlin. Really though, I thought he was being sarcastic, but maybe that’s just how I heard it.

Jeeze Al
Pull your head out of your ass.
I hope he didn’t mean that. He can be sarcastic.

uhm...
I can understand why you’d have them turn it off. The main focus of watching the Cards game is to watch and focus on the Cards and the sport of baseball. How things were handled, or what was said I don’t know because I was at the Blues game and my focus was on the Blues.
I did, however, joke about leaving to go the few blocks to the Cardinals game because they were probably playing better than the Blues were in the first period. And then when we left after OT I asked if anyone knew the Cards score.
If I were broadcasting the Cards and the Blues were playing, especially a big playoff game, I would talk about the Blues. Especially since there is a lot of downtime during a baseball game between pitches.
Al is a moron. I can’t stand him really. Mike Shannon isn’t much better, but sometimes we’ll turn down the TV volume and then we turn on 550.
