Blues' Prospects Involved in OHL, WHL Championships

The Kelowna Rockets have won the Western Hockey League Championship, 4 games to 2 over the Calgary Hitmen.  Two Blues' prospects were involved in the final series, both for Calgary.

Blues' prospect Brett Sonne, the hero of Game Four for Calgary with two goals and two assists, assisted on the game-tying goal in the third period to send Game 6 into OT.

Budding power forward Ian Schultz also chipped in for the Hitmen, tallying three assists in the six games of the final series, and notching game-winning goals in the earlier series with Edmonton and Brandon.

Summary of WHL Final Game 6

In the Ontario League, the Windsor Spitfires took the championship 4 games to 1 over the Brampton Battalion.  Each side in the OHL final featured a Blues' prospect in a prominent role. 

Windsor defenseman Mark Cundari, a free-agent signing by the Blues last summer, scored his only goal of the playoffs in Game 2 of the final, an unassisted shorthanded goal to knot the score at 2-all on the way to a 5-3 Spitfire victory.

Big RW prospect Anthony Peluso made an impact on the Battalion immediately after coming over from Sault Ste. Marie in a January trade, and played on the top line with elite NHL prospects Cody Hodgson (VAN 1/10, '08) and Evgeny Grachev (NYR 3/75, '08) in the playoffs.
