Gallagher delievers a eulogy to Hawks fans
It's a good read and the comments are just as funny, although not as intentional. Gotta love the PD fans who can't take a joke. My fave was the guy who corrected Gallagher about Steve/Scott Larmer -- joke went right over his head. Anyway, give it a look.

Read it earlier this afternoon.
OUTSTANDING stuff from Juan!
Even a reference to the infamous Ed Belfour hotel incident. Just brilliant stuff!
But the top of the brilliance was this beautiful (and long) sentence:
In the end, the Hawks died a valiant death, falling in five games in a series that could easily have gone seven if a couple overtime bounces had gone their way, leaving their fanbase to either (hardcore fans) bury themselves in the bottom of a bottle full of dark brown liquid; or to (Bandwagon Fan) toss their replica jerseys on the floor of the closet as they pull their Cubs “Prior” jersey off the hanger and get ready for yet another long summer of disappointment and sideways vintage hats.

I just felt something move
My God Gallagher, that was fantastic! Superbly done, and finishes with a flourish.
AverageJoe is right — the oblivious comments just add to the effect: Hello? Puck Daddy eulogy, anyone?

There was actually a comment that said the Blues didn’t get a eulogy because they didn’t make the playoffs…

I saw that.
Puck Daddy’s such an intelligent blog – it’s a shame that his comment leavers usually have the IQ of mayonnaise. What is it about the internet and sports that brings out the dumbasses.
I thought it was the best eulogy by far (compare Sean’s to the Carolina one – ugh). Some people just need to learn to be more like us and laugh at themselves. Jeebus.

Comedy gold, sir...
If I wasn’t in the same state as our friend Rat here…

…I’d have actually laughed at this one.
I’ll come back and read it again when I’m not feeling like the entire world is collapsing on me.

I've been in a Rat-like state tons of times before.
You need someone to chat up, I’m here and so are the rest of us. At the very least, we’ll make you laugh.

Thanks, guys and gals...
I"m just in a bit of a funk right now.
I’m so broke, I can’t pay attention, and the wife and I have been getting into it. My brother just did something really, really stupid, and I’m feeling guilty because I’m in St. Louis and not in Phoenix where he is — maybe he wouldn’t have done it if I’d been there for him. And I made a big mistake involving someone I work with, and it’s weighing heavily on me.
Other than that, things are absolutely peachy…
Thanks for caring, you guys. You don;t know how much that means to me.

That (and very snide commentary) is what we are here for. :D

Read the comments over at PD...
…and wow! It seems damn near every Hawk “fan” who reads PD is…oh what’s the technical term? Oh yeah, a “retard”.
Oh well, if they can’t take a joke screw ’em.

Bwaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Strong work Sean, too bad Hawk fans are not able to follow the zingers. I haven’t seen a shit storm like that on PD in awhile.
Chicago was one OT bounce away from being swept baby. Put that in your Commit To The Indian peace pipe and toke it.

awesome eugoogle-ogy!
also, i liked this, which im preettty sure was in response to our own averagejoe (but im too lazy to go back and check): “To Joe who called the fan base the biggest bandwagon in the NHL. You are nuts. do your research. the reason in past years the fan base was weak is because we were revolting about one of the worst owners in professional sports. the hawks sold out every home game this year, including the games in Sept/Oct dumbass. That is no bandwagon. JN”
so wait, what you’re saying is that when your team sucked, you guys didn’t come out to games. then when they got good, you started filling the arena? so sorry for confusing that with Chicago being bandwagoners. you fucking bandwagoner.
