All this guy has ever done is excel, and lead his team as far as one man can. In the USHL, he and the Lincoln Stars -- including Blues RW David Backes -- won the Clark Cup in his rookie season in 2002-03.
In college, Lamoureux and the North Dakota Fighting Sioux -- including T.J. Oshie from 2005-06 to 2007-08 -- made the Frozen Four every season of his career, from 2004-05 to 2007-08.
And in this current season, his first as a pro, Lamoureux led the ECHL in wins (33) and save percentage (92.32%), and was second in GAA (2.29). In the playoffs, Lamoureux leads the league in wins with 8, and is second in GAA (1.89) and save percentage (94.22%).
The Blues' prospect goaltending pipeline is already pretty well full, with Ben Bishop and Chris Holt poised to carry the load in Peoria in 2009-10; Jake Allen continuing to develop into one of the top goalies in the QMJHL; Paul Karpowich looking to build on a strong rookie season with Clarkson University (ECAC); and Reto Berra (SUI), Marek Schwarz (CZE) and Hannu Toivonen (FIN) in reserve across the pond.
There is, however, no such thing as too much solid young goaltending. Lamoureux has been in the Blues' Development Camp, and the organization could do a lot worse than to bring him back again and see just how hard he can push the guys ahead of him on the depth chart.

Amazing analysis.
And hell yea, I would bring him back in an instant. I’ve thought he was solid all the way back to two seasons ago, and wondered why he didn’t make more of a splash. I’d take him in a heartbeat if for no other reason than to push our current goaltending prospects.

Thanks guys
I have been trying to remember this guy’s name for a couple weeks now. I kept telling my buddy to keep an eye on this guy, but couldn’t for the life of me remember his name. Keep up the good work, I love this site.
Gota get this guy under contract!
Cuz I’ll eat my hat if any of those across the pond come over, Berra maybe, but thats a BIG MAYBE! I like having guys around that just win, and thats what hes done. He looked so good at rookie camp, small but quick. Get him locked up! Osh, Porter, J.P., & Duncan! (I dont think we expressed more interest in Dunc though) UND rep’n big in the StL!
Do we actually own J.P.'s rights?
Thought I saw something last year that other teams could still sign him, that’s rediculous! He shouldn’t be exposed like that given the way he plays. I’m excited about Jake Allen, but atleast owning Lamoureux’s rights would get me all the more excited! Got all pumped when Wammer mentioned on Strick’s last show that there’s already a FA backup that they want. This guy is my 1st step though.
No, that's the thing...
He’s a free agent, so the Blues will have to move pretty fast before someone else snaps him up.

They want a veteran backup
Mason’s the guy next year, but they don’t want him playing all 82. But the future is going to be pulled from Holt/Bishop/Allen/Lamoreux. Right now, it’s Bishop’s job to lose, but many successful teams in the NHL seem to have 2 GOOD young goalies.
This dude needs to stand on his head . . .
at 5’8", I don’t know how the hell else he’s doing so well!
Anyway, great analysis as always, B. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with this kid.

It would be nice to get him signed. Lord knows Toivenenn was a bust.
Barret Jackman is my hero.
Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.
Do we still have the rights to Toivonen?
sigh
Honestly, though, this looks like one of the most solid goaltending pipelines that the league has. Our drafting the past several years, as well as our signings, has been outstanding – if the team on the ice doesn’t prove that, then our goaltending sure as hell does. Outstanding.
God, I can’t wait for the future. Or heck, even until next season.
