St. Louis Blues select David Rundblad 17th overall in NHL Draft
Come back Saturday morning for the in-depth analysis of defenseman David Rundblad by our Game Time Prospect Department. But in the meantime, here are the basics on the player:
- *Native of Lycksele, Sweden, played for Skellefetea of the Swedish Elite League as a 17-year old.
- *Earned a silver medal with Team Sweden at the 2009 World Junior Championship.
- *Standing 6'2 and weighing in at 189, he is an offensive defenseman who is known for his fluid skating and puckhandling skills. Has become a threat on the powerplay and his right-handed shot is a desirable commodity for running the point. Defensively he still needs work, but has a bit of a mean streak.
- *His playing style reminds many scouts of Washington's Mike Green, but his defensive lapses worry some.
On top of the analysis of the pick tomorrow, we're hoping to obtain the post-draft interview from the NHL's media room. Until then, here's his interview with the NHL Network. He doesn't know anything about the city of St. Louis, but it's a great city.
Good answer, kid.

Oh, good.
Now we have 2 Swedes. That’ll make the season opener just that much more special for us. I’m assuming that he’ll come out and watch.
