SCF Watch Party At Bobby Plager's Place Tonight

Word from "Bobby's Place" via PCS is that Lars Eller, Aaron Palushaj, Barret Jackman, the Deej, Yan Stastny and Cam Janssen are all in attendance.

It's not too late to find your way there... Bobby's Place is at 141 just north of 44 in the building that used to house Shooters.

You folks have a blast tonight at Plager's.

Valley Park is a bit of a haul for me on short notice. Hell, the game’s already STARTED!

Ah, if only

I didn’t live in Jonesboro, Arkansas… oh, well, my watch party included Mrs. Goaler!

PCS gets drunk, autographs

What a night!

Recapping last night:

Night was made all the better with the Penguins victory over (Fuck) Detroit. Their was a slow trickle of players showing up as the puck dropped around 7 with Stastny and Jackman in attendance. Not too long after, Eureka Fury walked in, as did Winchester (Cathedral), Lars Eller, and the Deej. Eventually, the gang consisted of Carlo, Chaser, Aaron Palushaj, Coach Willem Dafoe, Coach Lex Luthor, Erik Johnson, and Cam Paddock, who was on crutches (The only one I couldn’t identify was Paddock, but to be fair, Bob Plager wasn’t sure who he was when I asked him). They were all more than happy to sign my shirt along with the Old Arena seats (Very cool) that some other gentleman brought with him. Other than that, not too many people had them sign anything or even said “hi.” They were seated in a raised section of seating that limited the flow of people and kept it to one side, which had to be the way Bob planned it.

As they walked to and from the bathroom, I got each one of them to sign my shirt and say “hi” to me and the girlfriend. Janssen even took the time to personalize a puck to my girlfriend’s younger brother and penned a giant “Fuck Detroit” on my shirt when he signed. The only one I got up to get a signature from was Coach Murray (in between beers), who did not look like he wanted to kill me and even chatted with me for a bit. I did not tell him that I actually supported Spiderman. Although the happiest person who signed my shirt was the one and only “Angelllla.” I guess she doesn’t get the props and recognition that the rest of the Blues gang usually gets.

What I know
- Want to know how to spot a member of the Janssen family? They’ve all got that same forehead.

-Janssen/Some Other Guy are better than Caloaiacovo/Winchester at bubble hockey. Cam also remarked how he had to carry the team. First and probably last time for that.

-Bobby’s Place does not card underage Blues prospects.

-Speaking of prospects, Lars Eller looked lost for most of the night.

-Plager had ’em captivated whenever he was telling stories. Ranging from Lars Eller to Kelly Chase, they were all paying attention to whatever he had to say. When Bob Plager speaks, you listen.

-Angelllla had her “A” game working on some guy at the bar.

What I think I know

-EJ’s knee, according to him, is “100 percent and ready to go.” Didn’t get to ask him if he has had his share of golf cart jokes.

-Assistant Coach Ray Bennett must follow Murray everywhere. He was his damn shadow from the get-go.

-I’m fairly certain the reason that Eureka’s entourage is so big is his family.

What I wish I knew

-When’s the next watch party, Bob?

-Why did Angella tell me she loved me when we had just met 5 minutes ago?Desperation is a strange perfume.

Clap. clap. clap.

Slowly standing, I begin to look around, compelling other to join my slow clap as I increase the tempo.

Excellent write-up, PCS. There’d better be another one of these.

Will there be another watch party any where tomorrow night? Sounds like fun

awesome write-up! no way I could remember this much info, probably even while sober.

two things stopped me from going: A) I don’t drive and it’s too far to walk, even if I took the bus to Meramec college. and B) Detwat tends to win whenever I watch a game, so I’m sitting this series out anyway.

did you get Angella’s number for me?

Good Place

Friend and I went there for the Blues road playoff games and it was pretty cool. The Best part, Bobby was there, signed my jersey, took a photo with me and later came back and shot the shit with us for awhile. Later on I felt old with all the young kids coming in there and I am only 31. I bet most of them have no clue who Bobby even is. Hell he even greeted us on the way out when the bar closed and thanked us for coming. Hell of a guy.

Damn, it sounded like a great time.

oh, and anytime you were talking to Plager, did you mention the “Barc in the Rafters” pic?

Somehow, I don’t think Bob knows what a LOLcat is.

Might be worth a shot for next time.

Hey, it could be worse. It has been worse. Not that long ago it was a lot worse. Doesn't make it feel better.

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
