Hopefully I’ll be back later. Provided that the Cardinals’ offense (if you want to CALL it that) hasn’t caused me to throw my computer at the TV by then.

Yeah, my goal is to not light my laptop on fire at some point. I expect a good sports night like I had the night of game 4. Pens win, Cards win. I haven’t had a good sports night in so long… and I’m basically out of beer, so if I’m going to have one, tonight’d be a good one.

1) I resent the exclusion of Stag as the beer of the game (re-supplied tonight!).

2) i shall be at the Pensburgh site for their GDT. They are good peeps there, and I’d invite anyone with an interest to join me there. I spent games 3-5 there, and I can’t bear to leave them at a moment like this. One thing, though, watch your language there.

Falstaff was the first beer I ever tasted. My uncles used to gather to play pinochle in STL when I was maybe 5 and one offered me a swig one night. I about barfed all over the card table.

Falstaff used to be a Blues sponsor back then too.

Does 905 liquor still operate in STL? The one we patronized was in the SW corner of Northwest Plaza, stood all alone by itself out in that huge parking lot across my McDonalds on Lindburgh.

But he’s from Montreal, and he came to love Detroit because he’s a big Brett Hull fan, and I guess he was too little (!) to really remember much of his time with the Blues. I kind of gave him a pass on that.

Well, in THIS instance . . .

I think it’s all about the stadium. It’s technically in Miami but it’s in the middle of fucking NOWHERE. It was built for football, so it plays like it actually SHOULD only be for football. And it rains a lot in Florida in the summer months, and there’s no roof . . . NOT good for baseball, so no one buys tickets because what if they show up for a rainout . . .

With all that being said, they’re breaking ground in July for a new retractable-roof stadium to be built on the grounds that used to house the Orange Bowl (which is CONSIDERABLY closer to the rest of the City of Miami than Joe Robbie Stadium is). It’s set to be open, I think, in 2012. After it opens, I expect a jump in the Marlins’ attendance that will reflect the true fanbase in southern Florida.

Speaking of which . . . .

of this year’s three Sam Adams Longshot beers (some kind of contest they run for microbrewers) . . . one of the two guys from California that had their brew selected is originally from my hometown.

Small fucking world. And his beer ain’t bad at all.

I thought about getting in on the Puck Daddy blog, but I wanted quality and not quantity.

Not that every poster on PD is poor quality, but that seems like a damn lot to wade through.
That and I know the people here
