Blues in top 10 of all franchises - ESPN

Well this was good to read. ESPN did their yearly rankings of all teams in the 4 major sports, and our Blues were ranked 10th overall. ESPN Ultimate Rankings The Blues were ranked individually in the top 10 in Fan Relations (#10), Ownership (#7) and Affordability (#6). Teh Blues were ranked 4th of all NHL teams behind Fuck Detroit, Washington and Pittsburgh. This only goes to show what we've known, the Blues are a top-class organization with a bright future ahead of them. Lets go Blues!

Awesome!

Even if I weren’t from StL and totally biased, I’d still agree with this. You hear more guys say “I don’t want to leave this team – I love the org/town/players/environment/whatever” than they do for any other team. Crap, Walt came BACK because of how awesome this team is, and guys who get traded still have great things to say without getting it cajoled out of them.

Slightly disappointed that the Cards were # 26. I’m impressed at Carolina (we were 5th – you missed these guys) at #2. Everything I’ve heard from people who have been to their games has been positive. They said that those are some of the most fun, pumped up, and awesome games they’ve ever been to. I don’t know how much that’s to do with drunk rednecks or just good fans, but I’ve never heard anything bad about them.

Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

What are these folks smoking?

I agree that the Blues are first rate…however there are some weird things in these rankings. For example, under the stat “Title Tracks” (defined as “Championships already won or expected in the lifetime of current fans”) teams like the Cards and the Angels are ranked a 1 while the Yankees are ranked a 26. What? Look I hate the Yankees as much as anyone but who honestly believes that in the period say 1990-2020 that the Angels, or Cardinals, or the Marlins, or the Avs, or the TB Bucs will win more championships then the Yankees?

I think this whole thing was based solely on feedback from fans...

Therefore, the “Title Tracks” ranking isn’t based as much on the actual number of titles won/titles likely to be won, as it is based on the fans’ optimism and satisfaction with recent titles. Therefore, the super-optimistic Cardinals fans with a title in the last 3 years gave higher rankings in this category than Yanks fans who haven’t won a title in almost 10 years and failed to make the playoffs last year despite their gargantuan payroll.
