Blackhawks Really Fuck Up
Yeah apparently getting ready to over pay Hossa they decided to save money and use stamps.
And thus they are saying their qualifying offer sheets to all their RFAs were post marked on time. Well the NHLPA and NHL are investigating the matter according to TSN.Ca. The end result looks like Versteeg, Barker et all will be deemed free agents. How sweet would it be to get Barker from Chicago onto the Blues blueline?
Check out the story on tsn.ca it's pretty fucking hilarious what Chicago GM Tallon has to say.

I somehow doubt . . .
the league would punish them for this.
They are, after all, not the Blues.

The league has a ruling
For Chicago’s dumbassedness, the Blues will lose their first round pick in the 2010 and 2011 drafts.
Suffering St. Louis Blues hockey withdrawl since April 22, 2009.

They're
going to get away with it scot-free.
You can just feel it.

Dude, just fax 'em.
Didn’t the Devils get in trouble with Madden and I think it might have been Rafalski for doing close to the same thing? They wound up having to pay “market value” for those guys instead of their entry level contracts… perhaps the Hawks’ll have to do a mad-dash re-sign for too much dough, thereby screwing up their salary cap for years to come.
Dumbasses. Enjoy Hossa. He’s fun, he’s a great player, you can buy his jersey w/o fear of him leaving you for a “better team…” but I just hope that you really don’t want Kane, Towes, Versteeg, and Sharp together on your team for very long.

Someone over at The Asylum actually made a good point about Barker...
They said that Barker isn’t necessarily the best fit for the Blues at this point, and I agree with that.
The Blues have a bunch of young upcoming defensemen as it is — Pola’k, Johnson, Pietrangelo, Cole, Junland, Rundblad, Ponich, Warsofsky…
No real need to spend $4-5MM per year, long term, for Barker… and that’s the kind of scratch he’s going to be looking for.
I;d like to have Barker in the ’Note, without question.. but not if his presence is going to mean that the Blues end up screwing over or trading one of their other young defensemen who have the potential to be equally competent.
Now, Kris Versteeg, on the other hand, would be a nice addition to the Blues’ third line, and even as a UFA, I don’t think he’d be out of the Blues’ price range.

Barker is the tits and if they sign him they can trade glass man who I like but
most likely will be injured next season if he remains a Blue.
