Pronger signs 7 year extension with Flyers

Well this interrupted my viewing of Torchwood: Children of Earth.

Per Sportsnet.ca:

The agent for Chris Pronger told Sportsnet that his client has signed a seven-year contract extension that will likely see the defenceman finish his career in Philadelphia.

The confirmation will come down later Tuesday.

The extension is front-loaded to lower the salary cap hit, and is rumoured to be worth $35 million, or five million per season. The deal also includes a no-movement clause. The Anaheim Ducks traded Pronger and forward Ryan Dingle to the Philadelphia for defenceman Luca Sbisa, forward Joffrey Lupul and two first-round picks and a conditional third-round pick in 2010 or 2011.

Last season with the Ducks he scored 11 goals and added 37 assists in 82 games.

Ah well.

Happy for him.

This means he’ll probably never play for the Blues again, and I’m totally cool with that. His era with the Note causes me memories of a terrible ownership and management regime, which eventually lead to me wanting to smash my damn head through a wall or a door or some other inanimate object . . . and I don’t need that.

Anyway. Totally happy for him. Enjoy Philly, Sir Prongs!

Agreed

I was getting so tired of the trade to get Pronger back talk. Since when has bringing a former player back worked well for the Blues? Also, I’m kinda “been there, done that” after a player leaves for whatever reason. I’m just happy watching this young team grow.

hmm

I wonder if its front-loaded to the tune of 7.5 mill a year for the first 4 years. Leaving 5 million over the next 3 years? Or is it less extreme than that… Pronger makes something like 6.25 million this year, right? And he turns 35 at the start of next season… (wow, now I feel old too)

LOL

My Ducks “Pronger 25” Tshirt has gone out of fashion REALLY quickly.

(It was a present to wear to the London games before anyone asks…)

Wow.

Depending on WHEN you got that gift . . . it took less than three years for THAT to go down the tubes, didn’t it? Damn your luck!

Holy jeebus.

Hope that works out for them. Games against the Flyers are going to be interesting for a while between him and Emery.

Not gonna lie, I’m a bit disappointed, but then again now we can finally move ahead without David Perron being in constant worry. Plus, I now have even more reason to watch Pens/Flyers games! Congrats to Prongs – I guess this means the Mrs. likes Philly Cheese Steaks!

hahaha Dingle? Really?

i routinely call people dingles as in dingleberry so that is just rich
i love pronger one day and hate him the next, ill always remember him as a half-ass cheap player who almost wanted to get suspended during the playoffs, the flagrant elbows were awesome but terrible for the blues
whatever, good for him, im just glad hes in the Eastern Conference, maybe pull a little Scott Stevens on Sid, Ovie, or another pre-madonna
hope not, but he could

Fuck Detroit
