NEED TO KNOW

Ok, as many of you know I play in an adult hockey league here in KC.  One question that runs rampant in my mind is this.  If the refs are not protecting the players by calling penalties, is it ok to take it into your hands and show the guy its not ok to slash everyone on the team repeatedly?

My problem is the refs in both leagues I play in are absolutely terrible in making calls, and often times let play continue until tempers boil over and someone gets just hammered into the boards or a fight breaks out.  I have a tough time keeping my cool sometimes because of this.  I constantly will take pot shots at refs for being blind and being on the other teams payroll because of said miscues.  Now I wont get ejected from games, I know where the line is and I dont cross it I just let them know I am there and usually tell them if they dont start calling cheap shots there might be a little damage done.  Maybe moving up in leagues the refering(sp?) gets better, but in my current league trips, high sticks, and slashing all go to the way side because refs dont like being at my games or the say "well he cant skate what do you expect?".  I expect a fair game, I am very much a person that can skate, better then most in my league, and when I get tripped I expect the fucking call.  Not the well its D league bullshit.  Sooner rather then later, the guy that trips me, slashes me, or does anything to impede my progress will know you do not do that, and will not get away with it

I need opinions, because it honestly gets very old when refs miss more calls then anything ive ever seen
