The Thrashers have a stable ownership!
But they still stable-y blow. The only upshot that I can see here is that this leaves them free to sell the team to another local owner who actually gives a flying flip about hockey and could care less about basketball. They have to sell to a local person because the naming rights to Philips are based upon the NBA and NHL teams BOTH playing there (something that no one remembers when they’re trying to move them to the Yukon or where ever), and if they move, well, good luck finding another company with the spare change to name an arena.
Also, apparently they signed a deal with the NHL promising to not re-locate for a set amount of time after the establishment of the franchise, and the metro area has about 5 million people. If they won’t let Phoenix go anywhere, they’re sure as hell not moving the Thrashers.
As far as the playoffs go, who the holy hell knows. I think they’ll do better this year and probably wind up a bubble team, but I’m basing that totally on Kovy, Little, Kari being healthy (hahahahahahaha), and them having a D that is actually a defense… and a coach who has only 1 losing season ever. There’s a smidge… but I’m sure Lehtonen’ll slip and tweak something making a routine stop, be out for 3 months, and ruin the team’s chances for the playoffs.
Again. I wish he’d go back to Finland and Pasi Nurminen would come back. The Thrashers could use a dose of bat-shit insane.
Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?
Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.
I can see a bunch of .....
douchebag Wing fans in that car…….
Till they all cream the window and they wreck it ………
I still maintain Vladimir Konstantinov got what he deserved...If you can't handle that then kiss my ass......
I think the article about Salvador is a little harsh. He’s always been a hard hitting stay at home defenseman that put up a few pts a year. He’s a good character stand up guy.
I’d take him in a heartbeat if we had room. Those 6 we signed in the off season need somewhere to go I suppose.
Of course my 10yo is named Bryce—hmm wonder where that name came from??
Gary Bettman disapproves of your use of Itchy & Scratchy videos.
Too much fighting.
Brian Burke sure as fuck approves, though.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
