Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Top Team Fanbases - we're number TWENTY?

I'm sure that you guys have seen this over at Puck Daddy - the rankings of the top fans are out and we're in the lower end of the middle.  Granted, the guy who wrote this is a Wild(s) blogger who has absolutely no pull in the hockey blogosphere that I know of, but the absurdity of the whole list is just stupid.

I already bitched about this on my blog, but I'll just copy and paste the part I wrote about the Blues' ranking (because I have a headache from mold and dust and don't want to type it again)...

Star-divide

So, a winning season, an amazing playoff push, and fun new talent - and we DROP two slots? How many sellouts did we have last season - 20 or so? Last I checked, there is a good deal of buzz about the Blues in St. Louis - unless you consider the standing room only crowd that wedged into the rink at St. Louis Mills to watch a bunch of 18 year old prospects do drills. The Post-Dispatch covers them very well. Yes, the Cards overshadow them, but I'm sorry - Albert does not impact Blues attendance. Heck, anyone see the dude in the Blues practice jersey next to the guy that caught one of Albert's HR Derby balls?

The only thing I can see that's pulling down the ranking is the web presence, but that's getting better. And you can find Blues swag all over the place in STL, so I don't wanna hear it. Any pro hockey team that has its own license plate is obviously pretty popular.

Of course, any team that lists the bandwagon hopping Chicago Blackhawks' fanbase as number TWO and Detroit's notorious "hey, we're freaking EVERYWHERE" fanbase at twelve is obviously, um... well, he obviously has no clue what he's talking about. Sorry.

yeah

I saw this… I think its mostly the fact that St. Louis is a Cardinals town first and foremost that hurts our standing. There are some towns where hockey is much more the forefront of the local sports scene.

That's the only thing I could think of.

Honestly, though, I don’t see how baseball actually diminishes the fan base seeing as how the season’s don’t overlap much – well, ok, THIS season they will. :D

This list is a joke

They have Chicago ahead of Toronto. I went to a Blues-Hawks game in Chicago a year-and-a-half ago and it was fucking E-M-P-T-Y. More empty than I have ever seen a Blues game, and I’ve had season tickets since the lockout.

Apparently all it takes to qualify as having a great fan base is to have a bunch of bandwagon assholes (see: Penguins, Pittsburgh.)

Oh yeah. . .

I forgot to finish my original point, which was that you couldn’t give away tickets in Chicago two years ago and that hockey tickets in Toronto are like Packer tickets in Green Bay- impossible to get.

That ranking article reminds me why I don't do crack

The teams were pulled out of a hat I suspect.

First, Minnesota has the audacity to call themselves "The State of Hockey".

This is despite the fact that the top sport in that state is wrestling, but they don’t say anything about wrestling since it’s not even the top state for wrestling (their neighbors to the south, Iowa, are pretty much holders of that title).

Follow all that bullshit with one of their lone team’s bloggers deciding to do some pseudo-scientific poll that puts the Blackhawks at 2 (REALLY?!?!) and us at 20.

Whoever did this poll (I refuse to acknowledge them by finding out who it was) obviously was buried beneath the ice by his friends during some pond hockey game at some point and subsequently got a frozen brain . . . he still hasn’t recovered but thinks he has.

Oh well. At least the Wild(s) will look schnazzy in their new 3rd sweaters while their team bores the flying fuck out of all of us in an (at least) one-year transitional period with their new coach.

This guy needs to get fucked.

I dunno . . .

I don’t think I hold a candle to Big Daddy Drew (Drew Magary) from KSK, honestly. But I’d be hard-pressed to decline!

Obviously they're not quite as "Hockey Statish" as thought...

… since Alex Tanguay passed them up to go sign with the circus that is Tampon Bay. I guess actually playing offense with Vinny is more fun than playing the trap with Marty.

Well, if this joker decided to drop by my "Future Notes" blog...

…which I haven’t updated since April…

…then that’s probably why he thinks the Blues have a crappy “online presence.”

Well, that and The Asylum… (insert rolling eyes icon here).
