Alright
maybe I’m dense or just not following close enough. But, can someone tell me why the NHL and more specifically Bettman, doesn’t want Basillie to buy and move the Coyotes.
So he’s considered a maverick-who cares he’s the only one to step up and make an offer that is backed by actual money to pay creditors.
So he want’s to move the team to Hamilton—who cares, he’s willing to pay the intrusion fee (or whatever you call that if teams are close together) and he WANTS a team.
His bid is 50% more than the NHL bid. And wouldn’t that be some sort of collusion or anti-trust situation to try to keep a legitimate bid from being honored.
I think I answered your question here in the Wednesday links . . . like, a few minutes ago.
And the short answer is that the NHL Board of Governors sees Balsillie as a threat, much like MLB sees Mark Cuban as a threat.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
and the nba
bitch slapped laurie’s money.
ya gotta play the game, pretend you’ll do with your new team exactly what the other owners want you to do, THEN “al davis” them and move.
so again.
1) befriend the money
2) befriend the city the team is currently lovcated in
3) get the team
THEN AND ONLY THEN
4) knife everyone in the back and move the team!!!!!!

Sorry DK
I didn’t look for my answer to today’s question in Wed links while I was at work LOL
OK I get that they see him as a threat but I still don’t understand as a threat to what?
He’s a guy with deep pockets, giving it to them straight about what he wants to do.
Sooo, they are threatened by money and honesty?
I give up, I’ll just watch it play out
I wouldn't call Ball-silly honest...
… when he tried to buy the Preds, if I remember right, he started selling season tix to them before he knew what the league’s decision was.
He’s an ass, and I’m sure that the league would just like for him to give the HELL UP. Hamilton’s lost one team already because the market isn’t big enough, and it was oversaturated in the 1920s. Imagine what it’s like now.

I tyhink the answer to all the NHL's problems is....
Hire an assasin to “take care of little Gary”………
I still maintain Vladimir Konstantinov got what he deserved...If you can't handle that then kiss my ass......
I won’t be around for a while … Working on a Pooptrap for people.

Damn.
I was just about to type that if someone could make one of those for little kids (not a diaper) you’d make a mint. You know, for when you’re walking around the shopping mall and your kid makes a crap. You don’t want to miss that sale… what do you do? Pooptrap!
The Kovy article was interesting in that, yet again, he goes out of his way to avoid giving the interviewer any dirt on Atlanta, or to sound anything but at least mildly positive-ish (for a Thrashers player). That’s what makes me think that this is going to turn out differently than Hossa did. That, and the fact that I really don’t think that the Thrashers will completely suck. The people who think they’ll be in the basement this year are ignoring two things 1) the fact that the team is actually pretty good – 5 20+ goal scorers, Bogosian and Enstrom, and Little and Kovalchuk as well as 2) last season was the only losing season that John Anderson has ever had as a professional coach. But hey – it’s always more fun to rag on a team who hasn’t had a few good years than it is to DO RESEARCH and draw a normal conclusion.
Sorry. People annoy me about that.

Well fuck!
I was hoping you would go with the Northeastern Illinois model:

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
Ranked 20th?!?
Wasn’t anyone else a little ticked off that the joker ranked us so low in Web presence?
There really aren't a TON of Blues blogs...
I don’t have a lot on my blogroll, and every time someone asks me to write something (I’ll be doing something on View from My Seats here this week – I’ll link it up. A2Y is also a participant. I hope he’ll play nice), they’re always like “WOW! You’re the only Blues blogger I know!”
I then promptly direct them here. We really do need more quality blogs though.
But, to be fair, he did this on a freaking Google search. Come on.
