Your St. Louis Blues: Pissing Off Multiple Hockey Leagues Since 2009
Remember how the Blues signed that Bryce Lampman guy last week? Yeah . . . about that . . .
It appears he still had a valid contract with the Kontinental Hockey League (y'know, those people who like stealing Jiri Hudler's from the NHL and such) when he signed with us last week.
"Middle Management" (as our SLGT overlords like to call him) has some info about it here. Most of it was from today's KHL press release.
We steal theirs, Detroit gets theirs stolen FROM them. We rule!

the NHL fines the Blues some draft picks or something for tampering. or, we have to send oshie to the KHL as punishment.

That if we have to send Oshie anywhere, I’ll burn every city they move him to into the ground.

Do they have

To the Russians, I say "sod 'em, and the Cossack horse they rode in on..."
…a KHL contract doesn’t mean diddly-squat over here, just as an NHL contract doesn’t mean much to those rat fornicators over there.
Besides, they stole Lemtyugov from the Blues last year, and they guard details on their junior and young pro players like it was still 1957 and Krushchev was still running the country.
The hell with ‘em. Send Lemtyugov back, send Nikitin over here, and give us Andronov, and we’ll give you Lampman back… :-D

Heh, the whole thing was actually just the KHL presser… figured it was worth posting.
Lampman played in Kamloops — he was pretty decent as a junior.

You B.C. guys
really stick together.
I must admit, I read Kamloops and I see Oompa Loompa.

Kamloops is da shizzle, B-Rad...
Not only is it in a beautiful setting, but they’ve got a pretty good history of some pretty good teams for a little one-horse burg in the mountains…
Besides, our boy Tyler Shattock plays there.

Pretty good teams! They had probably the best junior hockey dynasty of all time there for a while… find me another club with an alumni list including this calibre of NHL players: Scott Niedermayer, Mark Recchi, Shane Doan, Jarome Iginla, Robyn Regehr, Darryl Sydor, Darcy Tucker, Scottie Upshall, Kyle Calder, Rob DiMaio, Ken Daneyko, Brad Lukowich, Shaone Morrisonn, Tyson Nash… etc.
Hitchcock and Renney both started their coaching careers there, too.
Good scenery, too:

Blame the natives for the name though. :-)

I see the Montreal Canadiens’ forwards and think Oompa Loompa.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
Thanks for that, James.
I figured it’d be interesting enough to pass along to my fellow crazies over here.
And I agree with Brad on Kamloops. No offense.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
Whoops.
This happened with the Thrashers and Joel Kwiatkowski last month. Kiwi represents himself and kind of didn’t tell the Thrashers that he was under contract, so back to Russia he went. I bet the exact same thing happens here.
Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?
Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.
This.
If Lampman has a valid KHL contract, JD will stand at a podium next to Wee Gary Bettman and tear up his Blues/NHL deal. There might come a time when a player convinces the league to ignore his Russian contract… but it won’t be today, and it won’t be Bryce Lampman.
I guess it’s possible that his Russian team is playing fast and loose with his contract. Or that he’s tired of giving a huge chunk of his “tax-free” income to the, umm, “bodyguards” who protect him from things like falling down flights of stairs or running into cricket bats with his knees. Or maybe he thinks that he ought to be allowed to play in arenas with functioning defibrillators. But all in all, I think it’s extremely likely that Lampman is headed Back To The USSR.
Out clause?
I have heard of some players having an “I can go back to the NHL” clause in their contracts. I am unaware if that was the case here, I’m just saying its something to consider and the reds are just trying to be dicks.
