As a person partially of central European descent, the “J” in my name is pronounced differently by region of the country. Here in the Midwest, it is a hard “J” like in “jackrabbit”; in the top shelf, it is a “Y” like in “Jugoslavia”.

Unfortunately, I agree with DK — Janssen is a Eureka native, so the “Y” pronunciation is a load of crapola.
