Late Night Plager Poll
Without revealing too much info and editing out a tiny bit, we received this message Friday night:
"I was standing in the concourse [Friday night] and Bob Plager walked up and just started telling dirty jokes. It's nothing that I hadn't heard before, but when he tied Noel Picard's wife into a few of them, I laughed so hard I nearly choked."
The prosecution woud further like to present Exhibit B, sent to us last year:

And now, with only two pieces of evidence, the prosecution rests. Take the poll.

For the record, my sister is married and I think the world of her husband.
But I’d totally brag about it.
Late night polls are really awesome ...
When you’re still at work waiting for other people to get done so you can go home. Anyway, i voted for jersey number retired. The Blues aren’t the Cards. They don’t need HOF standards. Retire 5 — it’s not like it’s going to be retired for Jackman. Let him keep wearing it and then when he’s done, no one else can take it.
Besides, they could use another free sell out.
Maybe I'm just behind the times,
and for that I apologize,
But did you know “his” No. 5 is in the rafters? The Blue Heart is him.
I almost prefer the 5 the way it is now. Sort of sets him apart from the rest up there, which his fitting since his whole life is a part of this franchise in a way no other player/exec/dirty-joke teller/old-time hockey purveyor is.
Plus, I had to reserve my vote for option 4.

I've heard this argument before.
And it’s the most solid of the anti-retirement arguments. Retire numbers for play on the ice only.
Honored: 5, 14.
Retired: 2, 3, 8, 11, 16, 24.
The only anomaly is Gassoff, who should have an honored number and not a retired number if this is the way we’re gonna grade things.
I thought about Gassoff, and I have no good rebuttal. Would kind of be a dick move to unretire a dead man’s number. (“Sorry, we changed the rules. You get a candle now like Wick, even though that doesn’t really relate to your name. A gas nozzle wouldn’t have the same effect.”)
But there’s something very Busch/Natty Light/Stag-ish about Bob Plager hanging up there, like he’s crashing the glitzy party and autographing Hooters’ bums. I’ve been to the game a few times and been asked, “and why is he different?”, which provides a nice opening for some #5 stories.

The one thing other teams hated about playing the Blues wuz......
them got dayum Plager Brothers. Just about every interview before a game the other teams would shake their heads and wish doom on the Plagers.
- should be retired, he was part of the heart n soul of the early Blues along with his brother Barc and Glenn Hall.
Some days its just not worth chewing through the restraints
I voted for
“badass” …. but only because there was no “All of the above” option.

I though badass was spelled B-A-C-K-E-S.
When I was 11 years old, Trainer Norm Mackie said the players referred to Barc as “Barc the Spark.” Always loved that tidbit. Still do.
My first thought was against the idea, but the more I think about it, the more I think it would be the right thing to do. It takes a lot to earn such a designation in my mind, but nobody would be more honored by the gesture than Bob Plager.
I do wonder if maybe they’re waiting until he retires from the organization. Bob may be done on the ice, but he’s still working off the ice.
I with I could have voted for "all of the above"...
…but I went with putting #5 in the rafters. After all this man has done for this organization since it’s inception, it is the least they can do.
