The Minnesota Wild Creeping Me Out / Blues GDT

I just bought tickets online for the Dec. 26th showdown between the Note and the Wild up here in St. Paul.  As I was going through the process I was asked to verify I was a human being and not a bot by typing in two words they provided.

What two words did the Wild (and Ticketmaster) provide?

"Pleau"

"Enticing"

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

What. The. Fuck.

If those tickets weren’t for a Blues game, I’d tell you to light ’em on fire now lest your soul be torched for eternity.

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

I am assuming that this is the GDT...

… for people who for whatever reason aren’t in the mood to watch the Cards/seriously need drinking buddies?

Count me in.

The Cards are off tonight.

Round about nine though some of us might be rooting for a Cubs loss in San Francisco. I’m actually inclined to – ugh – root for them, so that the Cards can win it on their own

Oh, wait -

They’re not? I need to learn how to read the schedule better. I’m upset that I’ll miss their October games, but I’ll be damned if I’m paying the full $20 for 4 games in October, especially since they’re in the playoffs and I don’t have to do Extra Innings to watch the NLDS and NLCS.

by HuntsvilleBlues on Sep 24, 2009 7:42 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Seriously.

He needs one, because by all accounts at training camp he has absolutely make the whole team fall in love with him. He’s just a barrel of joy right now. Where the hell was that last season?

Of course, if he can keep it up and not go all nuts this year, I’d love to see him make the squad so Lehtonen could be shipped back to Finland in a Happy Meal box with holes punched in it.

I’ve heard he feels at home there.

by HuntsvilleBlues on Sep 24, 2009 7:45 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I love him too...

And from a friend who talked to him for a while at camp, he is all about moving forward and doing his best and just being absolutely cuddly (albiet, from what she said, incredibly stinky after practice). I think that making the team’d be a huge boost to his esteem, though he’s starting his first and only game tomorrow in Carolina – which pisses me off, because I’ve got to see him in warm-ups twice and sit on the bench. I’d really prefer to see his midget butt play.

He does have some pep in his step. During warm-ups, he’s got the quickest glove hand on the ice, and the quickest I’ve ever seen him move.

I kept rambling on about how he was our only hope, and he can’t get hurt, blah blah blah…

I had way too much to drink, and looking back I was definitely breaking the guy code of no talking while at the urinal.

They's lazy.

I’m fairly surprised that KMOX is being so cheap that they’re not sending someone to cover the game. Most of the teams this preseason have been broadcasting all, or just about all, preseason games. Not that it matters, because I can’t get the station down here 30 miles outside of Atlanta, but by God if I can’t get KMOX clear as a bell. Not that I’m complaining, because I’d rather listen to the KMOX news in the morning than whatever they broadcast here.

Except maybe the gynecologist thing… That one might not make the cut…

I have a feeling this will end up being mostly about food.
I might try to work in a Jochen Hecht reference…

There is no shame in German food.

Really. I have a killer recipe for something called “St. Louis Pepper Steak” which is from the On the Riverfront restaurant, but really it’s just an upgraded version of schnitzel sauce on a better piece of meat. I could freaking live on the stuff.

Ooh… that shall be dinner Sunday night. Thanks for jogging my memory indirectly.

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
