Second Blues game - LA bound

Now this was much better.  Pam and I spent the day in LA doing all the touristy stuff before heading over to the Staples Center - where we met up with a few of the guys from our fantasy hockey team (all Kings fans) together with "spectr17".  After photos, Spec and I left them to it and we headed in to watch the Blues warm up - before making our way down to the ice we met a nice chap decked out in Blues gear...with a yellow wig.  LOL.

Stood right by the tunnel this time and held my hand down and got "hand tapped" by most of the team  - it made my night to be "tapped" twice by Cam!  Once on his way to the ice and once on his way back.  Hand taps included Oshie, Perron, Chris Mason, Alex Steen, Brad Winchester, Patrik Berglund et al.  The funny thing was that there were quite a number of Blues fans down by the tunnel...and Davis Payne got a nice cheer and clap.  He stood just where the Blues bench was...and the fans opposite me started up a chant.  The chant was "House of Payne" - lol we all joined in.  Davis Payne turned, smiled and then did that embarrassed cleaning of glasses thing.

Obviously took lots of pics before going up to the 334 section where we were sitting - great view from up there...you could really see the play develop.  I was out of my seat at Perron's goal....and damn near shouted myself hoarse at Oshie's superbly taken goal.  Seems like the creativity is starting to come back here.  The fantasy hockey team took the piss of course - but they were really a fun lot.

I was just so damn happy to see a Blues win - a fantastic day capped with a fantastic night.  Anyway - pics are  here:

I love this one though:

If the Blues win some home games, I have a feeling those House of Payne chants will be a common occurence

Glad you got to see a win!

LOL

So do I!

And the win was fantastic – especially as I was being “teased” about the Blues throwing it in the 3rd again!

Enjoy the rest of the warmth

and all the touristy stuff in CA. You’ll not be lacking in things to do in that department.

Great pics and recap once again!

And it’s awesome that these pics and this recap is after a Blues victory. Good on you!

Some pics from the King's game

The heckle-ee

Doc & friends before game

Blues entering the rink for warm ups. The usher (dickhead in red jacket) in the runway told all the Blues fans not to touch the players. WTF? This is what fans go to the game for. Naturally the players high fived everyone on the way out.

1st star of the game in warm ups

Dang, lot of Blues fans there.

Why didn’t you just jump the dickweed and stuff him into a locker?

BTW, Doc, do you mind if I use a snapshot or two on The Hockey Writers? I have exactly jack and squat when it comes to decent photos. :(

Hey, it could be worse. It has been worse. Not that long ago it was a lot worse. Doesn't make it feel better.

Keystone Lake Zamboni falls through thin ice

A Zamboni took a dip in North America's largest groomed skating pond at Keystone Resort tonight.
A driver was grooming the lake at about 6:15 p.m., when the ice cracked and the 7,000-pound machine began to sink at about 6:15 p.m. As a precaution, skaters were cleared from another area of the 5-acre pond, resort spokesman Ryan Whaley said. The driver was not injured.
There was no word immediately on how soon the rink might re-open, but staff will examine the ice and remove the Zamboni Wednesday, Whaley said.
"They'll take it out and we'll see how it is," Whaley said of the machine and the safety of the ice around the crater.
With a lake that large, other areas could reopen immediately, he said.

Once it dries out, the machine is likely salvageable, he said.
Kenneth Waesche snapped a photo of the sunken ice machine when he stopped by Lakeside Village for a pickup game of hockey. His wife planned to do some skating.
Waesche said that the "thin ice" sign in the foreground of the photo was some distance away from where the Zamboni went in.
The lake is typically open from Dec. 18 to March. 28 depending on the weather, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
