You know that confident feeling, when you just know its in the bag?
Yeah, me neither.
So, once more the Blues have blown a (usually) defensible lead. Well before the Murray firing, I declared that the biggest problem is the team's immaturity, and that it didn't matter who was coaching. Well, the team is still young, still immature, and still does not play with the lead very well. It seems like the more time we have remaining, the more we're affected. In fact, according to the ANA issue of Game Time, the Blues record when leading after two periods is 16-2-5 ...er, I guess that should now read 16-2-6. That is 16 wins in 24 opportunities - a 66% success rate (if you can call it that). Well, there's not much you can do to force maturity, but our boys need to ignore the time on the clock. Play the same way for all 60 minutes. Right now, it seems like entering the third with a lead leaves the Blues with...
Tonight we face Calgary. Right now they suck. I mean, they have a very talented team, but they sure seem to be under-performing as of late. They have lost 5 straight in regulation, and are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games. They have two guys hurt that they need for secondary scoring, David Moss and Nigel Dawes. As for primary scoring- Jarome Iginla is in his longest scoring drought of this career- 10 games without finding the back of the net. Even the mighty Kiprusoff is looking mighty mortal; his past week's stats read 0 wins/ 4.82 GAA / and .869 SV%.
If this keeps up, the Blues should be able to handle them.
This is also your pregame pre-party. The puck drops at 8:30 St Louis time, and the GDT thread should arrive shortly beforehand. Until then, meet here, talk about the Super Bowl (and how useless the Pro Bowl is), and hope that the Blues don't fart around with the Flames...
