Sunday Links (UPDATED): Kicking in the extra 2 million to get Paul Kariya to play some defense Edition

It's fucking 4 on 4 in OT, youhave to know that and at least attempt to stick with the guy trying to carry it down towards the net. Paul Kariya decides to take the Homer Simpson "Can't Someone Else Do It" Approach and stay high looking for a breakout pass. Let's take up a collection and see if we can pay off PK to play some D in the clutch. *Checks wallet* I can kick in 10 bucks.

You know

I always liked Krajicek for some reason.

Was sort of hoping the Blues would pick him up.

And I would

like to note my disillusionment with Paulie Walnuts.

Yes, I believed it all- all his pronouncements after surgery that he was better than before etc. Well – he’s fast. I’ll give him that…but half the time he can’t hit a barn door at 10 feet. I’ve seen him work the puck in the defensive zone – seen him “help” out the defense … but that’s increasingly few and far between now.

Personally – I think he’s so wrapped up in HIS scoring record…that he’s lost sight of the fact that hockey is a TEAM game.

So, get rid of him. Get rid of him whilst we can still get something for him.

I also have my doubts

about what he’s like in the locker room – but I’m not in there (more’s the pity) so I can’t really judge him on that aspect of things.

Considering he's

about a £1mil cap hit at this stage of the season, I’d be happy with any kind of pick.

I wouldn’t mind bundling him up with someone else and running at Ponikarovski…

And

I’m very very glad that I didn’t do that profile of Paulie and went for one on Brewer instead…at least Brewer is working his ass off out there.

LMAO!

I love that.

I’m getting with the Brewer love now – I think since he’s returned from surgery he’s a much better player. I’m wondering if his back problems have caused him issues for quite a while.

Hmmmm ….I need a name and number for a third jersey when I get it….

Dreger's tweeting...

… that there’s some big news coming at about 1 or 2 from Toronto. Speculation that Jiggy’s going up there, but the question is – who is going to the Ducks? Stajan? Poni?

I’m kind of hoping that Poni stays available for a trade with someone, perhaps us. You think they’re interested in buying some Walnuts? Naaah.

Maybe the Blues can work something out for Happy Poni?

Da Leafs aren’t missing Happy Poni…

Man, that’s a ready-made St. Louis nickname if the Blues can get him here.

Jammer, White, Stajan, and Hagman.

The Leafs are gonna have to keep Poni if they want to score more than once a game.

Giggy might be a go for Toskala and Blake. Which, while a salary dump, does the Ducks NO good whatsoever. God.

Alright that game really pissed me off

That was probably one of our stronger games. The first goal I blame on Mason, that’s a play that everyone in the league tries to run and it’s up to the goalie to stop it if the faceoff is won. The second I place squarely on the ref’s with what is one of the strangest calls I have seen in nearly 20 years of watching hockey. The third is of course Kariya’s but that’s been handled by alot of the people above me.

That being said we were steady and consistant in the pressure didn’t have our typical “bad” period but still only got 1 point out of the thing.

Trade Mason, Kariya and Winchester and get someone with some break out scoring and fill in from Peoria. We have the talent just sitting there waiting for their chance.

No one knows why, but second only to eating the brains of the living, the dead love affordable pre-fab furniture.

by Maverides on Jan 31, 2010 10:10 AM CST reply actions

Yeah, surely they are going to be dealing Kariya at the deadline.

Mayers wants out of Toronto, maybe we could pick him back up. I still say I would like the Blues to take a run at getting LeCavilier. I think he would be great on a line with Perron. I doubt we could get him from Winchester and Kariya, but I’d like to see it.

So I guess we won’t be going after Hiller in the off-season.
