Defense/Goaltending Prospect Statistics as of 01-31-10

Compiled by Brian Weidler, "Game Time" Prospect Department

St. Louis Game Time PROSPECT SUNDAYS

A former first-round pick, and a player who has "been around," take center stage for the Blues' defense prospects this week.

2008 first-round pick (4th overall) Alex Pietrangelo rallied a pair of goals and four points in three games this week, showing that no matter where he plays in the Ontario League -- be it Niagara or his new team in Barrie -- he owns it. Pietrangelo was also honored this week with the captaincy of the Eastern Conference squad in the OHL's annual All-Star Classic.

Meanwhile, former Los Angeles draftee T.J. Fast also pumped in a pair of goals this week while skating in the frozen tundra of Anchorage, AK for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. The well-traveled 22-year-old has played in no less than six different leagues -- from the Alberta Minor Hockey League to the AHL -- over the course of the last seven seasons.

Meanwhile, in the nets, it was another tough week for the Blues' goaltending prospects.

The legendary secrecy of Swiss banks apparently extends to goaltending stats as well, since a statistical update for Reto Berra is unavailable yet again. The Blues' other four goalie prospects were a combined 0-3-1 in the last seven days, with a total of 17 goals allowed on 133 shots in 213 minutes played. That's a 4.79 GAA and 87.2% save percentage, folks...

The good news -- if it can be called such -- is that top prospect Jake Allen did not contribute to those less-than-stellar numbers, as the pride of Fredericton, NB did not play this week for his new club in Drummondville of the QMJHL.
