First Blues game...

Wow.  The ONLY thing I would have changed would be the scoreline.  The Blues deserved more than a 4-2 scoreline.  But to start at the beginning...we - my Ducks friend, Pam and myself - made the Phoenix Club in good time and had a couple of beers with spectr17 and his mate together with a good oldfashioned natter.  LOL Technically, spectr17 is the first Blues fan I've met face to face and chatted with.  Thanks, dude, for making me feel very welcome.

We headed on over to the stadium to catch the warm ups.  I managed to take a few pics of the guys before Pam told me to move over to the players tunnel - we were sitting near that.  I did - and held my hand out as various Blues came off the ice.  It was huge, huge buzz to be "hand tapped" by David Perron, Yan Stastny, Andy McDonald, Erik Johnson, Chris Mason and BJ Crombeen.  I'm telling you, I've been to many sci fi conventions etc and having the hand tapping experience was a much bigger buzz than meeting Anthony Head, Jon Pertwee etc.

The other really terrific thing was meeting other Blues fans.  If you passed someone in a Blues shirt, they inevitably high fived you or gave you the thumbs up.  A few fans came up to us when we were sat in our seats to have a chat - lol they all seemed surprised to learn that I'm British.  The cameraderie was brilliant.

I just had THE best time and,  hell, even the Ducks fans seemed a mellow bunch.  The pics I took are in a photobucket album here:

I rather like this one though:

If for some reason you want them then feel free to take them!  Let's hope the Blues beat the Kings on Saturday - I don't want my record to be 2 games, 2 loses!!

Regardless of the score today, I feel very, very, very lucky and thankful that I'm a Blue.  And very lucky that I found this site.

Awesome.

Sounds good man, we blues fans are a proud bunch, and now you can see why :). Great that you had a fun time, and lets hope it carries over into the Kings game. You will have to come see a home game in St. Louis at some point. Heres a Vid I took last year in the playoffs, it still gives me goosebumps to watch: http://www.youtube.com/jomilla#p/u/1/bC5mLZlaOQs

Whatever it takes?

Thanks...

and yes, St Louis is the next on my agenda.

This is my first trip to the States and I’m absolutely loving it. 24C here in SoCal – it’s -2 at home in the UK.

Next season – I’m going to St Louis. No doubt about it.

Sounds like a blast.

Glad to hear you had a good time. Thanks for representing us Blues fans out West. Just don’t expect that SoCal weather when you come to St. Louis next year. As I type this, it’s 9F (about -13C) and snowing. :)

Good on Ya

the LA area is the most laid-back area I’ve been to for visiting fans. When I lived out there in the 90’s I always felt right at home in my Blues sweater at Kings games. Even when I attended the game Gretzky played there as a Blue right after being traded.

Thankfully

we’ll be going to the LA game with a group of “hardcore” Kings fans – one of whom is a cop – so I should be nice and protected!

Very Nice to hear...

I rather enjoy going to Blues games in other arenas… Rec’d for the effort to get there (here?).

Awesome… please post your LA experience too…

LOL

Will do! Going with a group to LA – our little fantasy hockey team…all Kings supporters so I’m sure they’ll protect me if my mouth gets me in trouble..

Solid photo album

and a GREAT recap!

Too bad it had to be ruined by Kerry Fraser and his bumbling idiot hair and whistle malfunctions. That had to reek.

It sucked

Although we didn’t play great, we were sat right across from that “hit” and it was so blatent we were amazed it was missed.

I'm glad you had a great time

I’m sorry Kariya wasn’t suited up. Hopefully for Saturdays game.
Enjoy the sun and warmth and food.
Where will you be sitting in LA?

We're in

the 400’s for the LA game. But I’m sure I can sneak down to get some more pics.

Great pics Doc, thanks

I scored a ticket to the Kings game so hopefully I’ll see you there. Section 108, Blues end to start on the corner. I sent you my cell by email if your group wants to meet up for pre game suds.
