Tampa Bay Lightning takes break from intense preseason with paintball outing

As an avid fan of paintball for over the past two decades, it's great to see the sport being used by the pros as a tool for building teamwork off the ice. Now if we could only get the St. Louis Blues to play a few games. Perhaps a STL Gametime paintball outing could be planned for the fall?

TAMPA — It was easy Thursday to put a smile on the faces of Lightning players: ask about Wednesday's paintball battles.

There WAS a paintball field literally five minutes from my house.

Not sure it’s still open or in use. But the two times I played . . . had a blast. Always lost. Those fuckers HURT when you get shot from behind. Let’s just say I should’ve worn a long-sleeve shirt despite it being 95 degrees that day.

St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

The best place to play in St. Louis is Xtreme Paintball Park in Millstadt, Illinois just over the JB Bridge

The best people to play paintball with are people of your same skill at the game. You don’t want the guys who play every weekend going up against people that have played less than five times in their lives. The best time to play is anytime in the fall, winter, or really early in spring when it’s cool enough to wear the long sleeve shirt or a hoodie over a t-shirt. I’ll play anytime of year, but it’s a lot more fun when it’s above freezing and below 85 degrees.
