The Punishment of Montreal Continues: Matt D'Agostini Scores Two In Blues Win Over Ducks
Matt D'Agostini, who was acquired from Montreal last season for Aaron Palushaj just months before the Blues grabbed Jaroslav Halak from the Canadiens for Lars Eller and Ian Schultz, has decided that it is his turn to torment the fans of Les Habitants.
In a mid-day game today, D'Agostini, who played 94 games for the Canadiens over parts of three seasons and was beginning to be cast in the permanent role of energy line winger, tallied two goals against the Anaheim Ducks, which can be seen below.
Every now and then you get a gift - you just have to be in the right place at the right time....
The only question now is whether he's destined to further torment a Canadiens fanbase that is already hurting over the trade of Halak.

I really
loved the fact that in the final couple of minutes, the guys were trying to get the puck to D’Agostini for his hat trick.
Awesome first goal – and superb pass from Pietrangelo

No.
Sadly, he’s not.
Sometimes, I wonder why hockey came south of St. Louis, and then I realize, I'm south of St. Louis. Coincidence, I think not.
are ya sure.. i thought he only had 10 games in the NHL before this year

17 games total.
9 games in ‘08-’09 before being sent back to juniors.
Then 8 games last year before doing the healthy scratch tour to bide time for his OHL team to trade him AND keep him ready for the U-20 Worlds.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

is that a yes?
i don’t know what the max is before you become ineligible

here's the official-sounding wording
from sbnhockey bloggers
To be eligible for the award, a player cannot have played
more than 25 games in any single preceding season nor in six or more games
in each of any two preceding seasons in any major professional league. The
player must not be older than 26 years before September 15 of the season in
which he is eligible.

Only one question comes to mind.

Had to figure
An Italian would do well on Columbus Day. Columbus “discovered” America, Dags “discovered” the back of the net.

I felt like the entire team played well... Not great... But well...
Halak made some decent saves. Got lucky on others. The breakaway save was a beaut.
Perron was a nuisance all game. Really liking his play.
McDonald seems like he is a step slower. Is his hip (I think it was the hip) still bothering him?
Jackman was solid.
Petro had a great game. Still saving judgement until he goes up against a powerhouse offensive team. But he has looked solid.
Johnson has been OK so far. He hasn’t broken out just yet above the rest. But he has played solid minutes. He is starting to gain some confidence in that shot on the power play and he has put in some quality PK minutes as well. He has been good. Just not great yet.
Liked Brewer going after the Ducks player. There is nothing I hate more than going after someone who just gave a clean check. The check on Polak was anything but. And I was happy to see Brewer fight through some jersey problems in the fight and get some licks in at the end. There are a lot of NHL players who would have stayed down the first time he got pushed to his knee. Some nice fight in the captain.
I feel like our 3rd and 4th lines are far above anyone elses so far. Our first two lines have shown flashes, but haven’t been consistant yet. Hopefully they are just getting used to one another. Perron’s pass to Backes was awesome. And the fight to win the puck back in the Duck’s zone by all three forwards was really nice to see.
Actually the fight that I have seen from all the players has been nice to see. It feels like they have a belief in what Payne is wanting to do and a belief in one another. I’m curious how the players and coach will react once they hit a pothole in the road, but, so far, they have been a blast to watch.
Still a lot of room to grow and a lot of mistakes to cleanup, but all in all, they look like they are heading in the right direction.
Its weird... half the year my blood is red... but then the other half... it's blue... hm...
Next weeks games will tell me how good of a team this really is.
@ Chicago
And then back to back home games against Chicago and Pitt. If we are competitive in all 3 of these games, it will prove to me that this is an early playoff contender rather than a ‘team moving in the right direction’.
Will be a fun week. And still have to take care of this weeks final 2 games, which will also tell us something as they are both on the road.

Only one thing really pissed me off today......
The dipshit running the soundboard at the game decided to play "Chelsea Dagger’…..for any of you unfamiliar with this song…its the song the Fuckhawks play after scoring a goal……its HIGHLY fucking annoying and it makes me want to punch a pregnant Fuckhawks fan in the womb……….
STOP PLAYING OTHER TEAMS SHIT IN OUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!
Fuck that really pissed me off….just ask Blues Tiger about my reaction when they played it……
I still maintain Vladimir Konstantinov got what he deserved...If you can't handle that then kiss my ass......

Agreed...
I’m a Blues fan living in Chicago and I had to hear that shit all last spring and I’m sick of it…why do you have to play crappy pop songs after a goal? Or at all? This is a goddamn hockey game, not some teenybopper concert…I share your pissed-offness.
agreed!
said the same thing to my blackhawks fan roommate… not acceptable, in my opinion. that is considered “their” goal song (even if other teams have used it) and it doesn’t belong in the scottrade center.
The good news
The crowd booed loudly when “Chelsea Dagger” came on, and they cut it off before the time out was over.
Maybe they’ve learned their lesson
