PrintThe Blues take their 4-2 pre-season record onto Scottrade center ice tonight as they face the Dallas Stars. The Blues are looking for payback after a 5-2 Dallas win last Saturday (Sep. 25) in the Lone Star State.

TONIGHT'S LINEUP
FORWARDS: David Backes, Patrik Berglund, Brad Boyes, BJ Crombeen, Matt D'Agostini, Jay McClement, Andy McDonald, TJ Oshie, David Perron, Chris Porter, Alex Steen, Brad Winchester.
DEFENSEMEN: Eric Brewer, Ian Cole, Barret Jackman, Erik Johnson, Nathan Oystrick, Alex Pietrangelo, Tyson Strachan.
GOALTENDERS: Ty Conklin, Jaroslav Halak.
Halak will likely get the start, and if either Oystrick or Cole is scratched, look for him to be on the bus to Peoria tomorrow morning. By the way, the Rivermen are also playing a pre-season game tonight, on their home ice at Carver Arena, against in-state rivals the Rockford IceHogs.

Who would take a chance on him?
He could possibly be packaged into a deal for a proven forward on a team who won’t make the playoffs. But, they will want some picks and probably another prospect.
He hasn’t really shown that he can compete at the NHL level in almost 2 years.

I think the Blues are just about in a position where they could give up a pick and Berglund...

I really don't think that a team
would take a chance like that though.
If you are giving up a legitimate NHLer (and most likely a scorer because that is the only deal I can see the Blues making) then they are going to want more than that.
Most likely at least another prospect or a couple more picks IMO.
I could actually see Bishop or Allen in a deal before Bergie though. They have shown some this preseason, especially Bishop, and one of them will probably backup Halak in a couple seasons, if not next, and the other will be excess and could get us something on the market.

Didn’t hear much about Oystrick, which could be either good or bad.
Didn’t hear Cole’s name at all, which makes me think he’s getting sent down. That’s not such a bad thing, as he needs to play, and he’s better off getting first-line minutes in Peoria than sitting in the press box three of every five games in the NHL.

Kelly hits the nail on the head… Berglund needs to win the battles along the boards and in the corners in order to be most effective. If he starts doing that consistently, there’s no limit to where he can go.
