I dunno where it originated but I just know it as the angry face baby. I wish I could find the place that did a bunch of photoshops of the kids. Stuff like a green helmet and the caption “Storm the beaches.” Just look up angry face baby and he should be there if you need to use it.

There is no expletive strong enough to describe how horrible this is

Tendon surgeries aren’t speedy recoveries, either. Worst case scenario, he might not be back this season.

Blues fans now officially have a reason to hate Crosby.

Yeah, this is bad.

Especially when the earlier reports were “’Tis but a scratch.” I hope he recovers faster than expected.

Good for Oystrick, though...

He’s been playing well in Peoria, and deserves a shot.

When is Nikitin due back?

If this is truly a season-ender for Polak, then I’d rather see the Russian up here; but not until he’s fully recovered from the broken wrist and is playing some mean-spirited hockey again.

by BleedBlue42 on Oct 27, 2010 4:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Not sure on Nikitin...

He should be close to ready, but with a broken wrist, it can be hard to tell. You really can’t do shit on the ice without a fully-functional pair of wrists.

Checking Crosby behind the net...

…put him up against the glass, and it looks like he got his wrist sliced open by the aluminum partition that separates the panes of plexiglass.

Not really Cindy’s fault; no one’s fault, really. Just typical bad Blues luck.

I thought that was initial reports...

…and that he actually landed on Crosby’s upturned skate and/or got stepped on. I swear I read that somewhere reputable…

I once shot a man just to see him die...then I got distracted and missed it.

by TheDuke32 on Oct 27, 2010 6:53 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

I watched the replay several times...

…and nowhere did I see his forearm and Crosby’s skate come anywhere near one another. Polak hit the glass, then pulled his arm away and was already bleeding.

If if was the glass partition

are the Blues checking to make sure someone else doesn’t get splayed open on it? Somebody fell down on the job if that metal was hanging out enough to cut someone open like that.

I also saw several reports that it happened when Polak fell and you couldn’t see his arm under him for a second. Who’s our NSA level video analysts on GT?

So let's take a look under the hood

It appears to be the tendon attached to the palmaris longus muscle. This tendon is not crucial for anatomical function, and in fact, 15 percent of people do not have the tendon. To see your palmaris longus tendon, look at the palm-side of your forearm. Touch your thumb and little finger and then make as much of a fist as possible. Eighty-five percent of you should be able to see this tendon running down your arm. I can see mine.

There is more than one way to skin the cat.

Lighthouse Hockey: You say that like Streit and Okposo and Schremp and MacDonald were important.

by Dominik on Oct 30, 2010 5:21 PM CDT up reply actions

This is the muscle that cats use to extend their claws.

Or, rather, retract the skin around the claws to expose them.

So yeah, totally superfluous in humans. In fact, I’m trying to figure out why an injury to this tendon would sideline you a-tall. It doesn’t do anything. I guess as long as it’s there, it has to be repaired & heal?
