It was a crappy hit
After watching the replay several times, I don’t believe it was an intentional headshot. But it was blindside, he did leave his feet, and Tootoo has a history of questionable play. Stuff like that does not belong in the game. I’m ok with the 5 and a game, and wouldn’t be upset with him suspended for a game or 3.

I'm guessing more.
Hjalmarsson got 2 games for hitting from behind into the boards – without a prior incident (or MULTIPLE prior incidents) – without leaving his feet – without hitting the guy in the head.
I’ll guess 5.
I'm tired of wasting my time on Jordin Tootoo. Fuck him.
When is someone gonna blindside him and deliver the sweet irony I’m looking for? It needs to happen yesterday.
It’s sickening that the Preds do not understand that he brings little to no value to his hockey team and will let him keep doing this shit whenever he feels like. Dude’s less than a bum, he’s a fraud. He owes the Preds money.
As I said last night . . . at least Winchester has size. Tootoo has . . . yeah, nothin’.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

Do you see that you’re advocating Tootoo’s style of play? You want someone to do to him what he did to Cola. That’s why d-bag’s like Tootoo take up ice time in this league. Look, if you can truthfully say that you’d say the same things about Tootoo if he was wearing the Bluenote, I’ll add a little weight to your arguments. Or better yet, change the player delivering the hit from Tootoo to Cam. Would you feel the same way?

I don't think King wants someone to do to Assweasel what he did to Colaiacovo...
I think what King — and about 10,000 other Blues’ fans — want is for someone to get Assweasel in a corner, throw off the gloves, and let Assweasel know that the only way he’s getting out of that corner is to punch his way out.
If he turtles, you body-punch him until it hurts for him to breathe, or until all four of the zebras have to drag you off… whichever comes first.
I can’t think of any better “player” to have an example made of.

Brian, you're about half right.
Is it too much to ask for a concussion? I know it’s off-base and I realize it sounds like I’m being a bad sport. But for THAT guy? Not at all.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

The hit will probably be considered dirty
For four reasons:
1) Tootoo has a history of shady hits and actions.
2) Game circumstances: the Blues had just gone up 2-0 late in the game; Tootoo refused to fight afterwards and was trying as hard as he could to draw a call when Strachan shoved him (watch his acting job there… embarrassing)
3) He leaves his feet just before contact (watch in super slow-mo, it’s subtle).
4) Although he leads with the shoulder, and looks to be aiming for Carlo’s shoulder, after watching in slow-mo several times, I think Carlo’s head did get hit by Tootoo’s shoulder as the first point of contact. Watch the way his head moves a bit before the rest of his body.
In all, I think Tootoo is an annoying prick and a borderline player. I don’t think he had intent to injure in a malicious sense (he just wanted to lay someone out to draw a penalty) but that’s not how the league looks at these things today.
And Carlo really should’ve kept his head up.
Its almost impossible not to have the first point of contact be a player’s head when his head is down, and you’re right in front of him, right?

Looks as though it’s shoulder to shoulder. Charging is an odd call, too.
Doubt the refs would have called anything if he wasn’t hurt, probably because the hit was actually clean.
Clean as an infant's day-old drawers.
Cola’s head doesn’t snap backwards like that from a hit to his shoulder.
I posted this below, and it deems reposting
Rule 42 – Charging
42.1 Charging – A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
If your skates leave the ice and you hit someone, it’s charging. That’s how the refs always call it.
A few years ago...
OLN had that special on the Tootoo brothers. I was touched. It was a damn shame about his brother. This kid worked butt off to persue his dream of playing in the NHL. It’s the kind of story that hockey fans love to hear. It just sucks that he turned out to be such a douchebag of a hockey player. Time to go back home and eat some raw seal.

this from where I think it is?
First they thought I was ASD, and then ADHD, and after a few years of having MD, they told me that I am probably EI. But all I know for sure is that I have TS... Fuck it, just call me alphabet soup.
He leaves his feet on this one… Plus when you have a history of shady hits, that follows you.
There’s a thread on the Nashville Blog, asking if he’s getting a suspension for this. I feel he’s got no way out on this one.
Lastly. I want to see someone drop the gloves the next time he’s on the ice. He’s 5’9" notes!! Protect each other from this dwarf on skates.
I didn't know....
Hossa’s vagina was located in his “upper body”. Fuck the Hawks, but even more so, fuck all the new “diehard” Hawks fans. Fuckyoufriday, no? Enjoy your post-victory season, you nincompoops.
Oh, by the way, I am new on here. Hello all!
I couldn’t agree more on that one. I was up at EIU last weekend and it couldn’t have happened any better. Friday night loss handed to them by our Notes, and then a smashing by the Blue Jackets. Needless to say, after a full day of drinking, I almost ended up dropping the gloves..
No shit?!
I graduated from EIU in ‘07. Played hockey there, and all the guys we’re hawks fans. They (being hockey players) were obviously the true diehards. But I’m glad I got out of there by the time the hawks won it. I’m sure there we’re probably numerous puckslut-soriety types with brand new RBK jerseys on.
I think the hit was borderline
Honestly if it was a Blues player with the same hit I would think it a good hard check.
I don’t think he charged, I don’t think he left his skates before the hit but after the momentum.
It looked like it was going to be a good shoulder to shoulder hit but just before the hit Cola bends over just a touch to look
at the puck.
Was he blindsided? I suppose but you’re an NHL player, how can you not know someone will be coming around the other side of the net. So in that respect it should be an expected hit.
So if I can come up with these it’s got to be borderline.
He’ll get a suspension due to the possible injury.
I think it will happen to every team in the league a few times so I’m prepared for a few to the Blues.
Remember this type of hit in the future when we’re on the opposite side of the fence.
Hockey players wear numbers because you can't always identify the body with dental records.
It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all. Laura Ingalls Wilder
With Janssen on the roster...
…“the opposite side of the fence” is pretty much a certainty. The only thing Janssen brings to the table over Tootoo is Cam’s willingness to drop the gloves.
It was clearly charging. It in the slow motion replay, he definitely left his feet before the hit. I normally don’t put too much stock into this, but the NHL has come out and said it was the right call. I don’t know if it was intentional, but he certainly left his feet. So that’s at least two minutes for charging. Fuck Tootoo.
You really can't say it's a charge
when the rat fink didn’t take a stride inside the face off circle. He just had a good head of steam coming in from the blue line.
Just a chew toy for the hockey gods
The #1 on that 25 ways to die list is wrong.
It should be “At the hands of an angry enforcer after making a questionable hit on his teammate.”

“Obviously, my understanding is it was a blow to the head,” Tootoo said. “You look at the replay, shoulder-on-shoulder, it’s a tough league to play in — keep your head up out there. I think the bottom line, when you hit someone hard, the refs are going to take a second look at it. I’m speechless.”
Are you kidding me? What a tool.
If he's speechless...
… then why is he trying to explain it?

I love how Assweasel's gloves were glued on when Strachan wanted to go...
Strachan went at him, then waited until Assweasel turned around before going at him again, when he could have easily punched Assweasel’s lights out from behind.
What a gutless little puke.

and the name of Rammstein song is...
Mein Teil. I read that story, and thought, wtf!
I don’t like when people leave their feet for a hit. Wether he wears a blues jersey or not. And I don’t like Tootoo.
