In conclusion, none of the 3 top selke canidates last year played against as much top competition as McClement. Jay was the better penalty killer, not the best faceoff man though. Datsyuk hardly plays on the PK and faced the weakest competion playing with the best teammates of the 4. Kesler took a ton of penalties and didn't have the same numbers as the rest but his teammates were garbage. Staal has pretty good numbers but also played with better teammates, was terrible on the faceoff, and was the worst of the 4 on the PK.

Any way else I should compare them?

I need a stats guy to help build our case for the Selke this year.
Interested?
I’m going to use what you’ve done here already, but we need to run updates on this year’s progress. We’ll use them in the paper and here on the site. I have a couple other good sites to track shifts and ice time and faceoffs too. I’m just terrible at doing exactly what you’ve done here.
Like this?

He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.
Jay McClement for Selke in 2011. Justice will be served. Penalties will be killed.
He has zero SH points, but...
he got a plus for being out there when the Beej scored his shorty (SH goals = a plus, SH goals against don not = a minus).
That. Is. Friggin'. Awesome.
Great, and I mean great, stat work, good sir.
That’s the kind of stuff I want to put together on a regular basis for Prospect Sundays.
Well done.

Awesome
Near the end of the season, Game Time should release an infographic that visually presents how Selke-worthy Silent Jay is and send it around the blogosphere. Hell, if the Blues keep this pace up the entire 82 games, I’ll probably take a crack at it. This team is turning out to be incredibly exciting.
That's the plan. Brad Lee's Social Media Army is forming and just needs to get focused.
I’d like to do a weekly update on Silent Jay’s progress on the season and his stats, like the group above. Wings fans matter not, the NHL media guys have the votes, so we have to prove our point to them.
Anyone who can help, we can use it.
But, but, but
Datsyuk is the best EVAR. He ALWAYS plays against the other teams’ top lines, and is such a force on offense that the other team is scared to even attempt to score goals on the Wings while he’s out there.
Or so say the fans in “Hockeytown.”
Fantastic analysis, btw. I really would like one of those ignorant Wings fans to attempt to make a counterpoint.
Very nice
Great job

That’s all.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
Thanks for the info.
And I hate to be a nit-picker. But is there a way that you can arrange these stats so the players are easier to compare?
Maybe four columns with their names at the top, short-handed stats next, even-strength after, and so on?
HTML is our friend...
I’ll be glad to do it if asked. I don’t want to duplicate any efforts that might already be under way.

I suck with charts and stuff. If you want to make it look better, go for it.

Jay McClement for Selke in 2011. Justice will be served. Penalties will be killed.
Will get right on it...
Shouldn’t take too long to make up a template, and it’ll be easy to update on a regular basis once that’s done.

Excellent work here.
Thank you , Icion.
I love how the Blues community and especially SLGT have gotten behind this….
Still, I don’t care if any of the other guys get the Selke as long as Silent Jay wins the Conn Smythe….
