Hey TB

Is the Jr stat for Wannstrom a tourney or he moved up a division?
Curious

It's common in Sweden (and other European countries)...

…for the elite league teams to also have a junior (U20) league affiliate, and for players of Wannstrom’s age group to skate with the U20 squad at times when the elite league team is between games.

For example, say Peoria was in the Illinois Elite league, and they also had a U20 junior league affiliate in the USHL. Since Peoria’s not playing until Friday this week, any player on their roster who was age-eligible to play for the U20 squad would probably see time with the junior team if they had a game (or games) between now and Friday.

With the amount of minor league and junior hockey teams in the US I'm surprised that St. Louis doesn't have this system.

You could run a farm system with a lot of depth from NHL: run players through a system culminating in the AHL who picks from the ECHL and IHL-CHL both of which pick from the USHL/Major Juniors/NCAA who pick from the NAHL/U20 Minors. Get a kid in early and you can mold him for the team. It seems like they stop at the ECHL with affiliates. Then again, if they had an affiliate at the USHL and below that might also affect amateur status for those players, many of who are looking to go to college on a scholarship.

Way back in the day, NHL teams used to own junior clubs...

…and use them as affiliates in the manner you suggest. The advent of the Entry Draft in 1969 did away with that system, primarily because the Canadiens basically had a monopoly on all French-Canadian talent under the old system.

What's with Barriball's stat line?

It seems like every time I see something about him, he’s doing insanely well or insanely bad. 8 goals in 8 games—looks like this will be a good year.
