Thursday links: Worst game ever? Worst game ever. edition
If you were to tell me at 6 p.m. on Wednesday that the Blues would give up eight goals to the Blues Jackets, lose by seven and lose T.J. Oshie to a broke ankle in the next three hours I wouldn't have believed you. That all just happened. Ugh.
Blues news
- The winner of the Dan O'Neill unrelated lede goes to ... the United States Census. If you had that in your pool, please claim your prize at the front desk. [St. Louis Post-Dispatch]
- T.J. Oshie broke his ankle and will need to go under the knife. Just the worst news really. [Morning Skate]
- JR Live! at 1 p.m.[JR Live]
- The Blues 7-defender lineup was working but I think that may change tonight. [St. Louis Post-Dispatch]
- Eric Brewer bristles at being called old, but he's leading the young Blues' d-corps. [BND]
- Davis Payne said the Blues are just not a hot goalie. Note: This was before the debacle in C-Bus. [BND]
- John Davidson is going to be on the radio. [NHL]
- Nick Drazenovic got the call before Wednesday's game. With Oshie sidelined, I think Draz might get to put on the uni. [PJ Star]
- From the Rink got the "Look at the Blues!" article out just in time for the team to shit the bed. [From the Rink]
- There was much rejoicing in the land of Columbus—and rightfully so. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only to notice the game got out of hand and the refs took too long to take control. [The Cannon]
- The Blues and Blue Jackets had a pre-game fight ... over soccer. I'm going to guess the Blues lost that one, too. [Puck-Rakers Blog]
- Davis Payne has been named to the ECHL All-Decade Team as the head coach. Not too bad. [Blues]
Hockey news
- Marian Gaborik is back after missing 12 games with an injury. [ESPN New York]
- Being an NHL defender at a young age is a tough job. Just ask the Blues. [TSN]
- Hoo boy this is bad. Ilya Kovalchuk might have topped Dennis Wideman in the shootout fails book. Kovie will be in the KHL next year if this keeps up. [Puck Daddy]

Get better T.J. Oshie. Fast.
Just remember the Blue Jackets' game was just one game. The Blues are back in action tonight. Be here. Or else.
Happy Veterans Day, everyone. Thank a Vet if you see one. I know we have a few around here—Gallagher, Tomorrows Blues, Spectr. Thanks.

Lets bounce back tonight
Time to shake off last night as a horrid night and move on
Baltimore Blast - 6-time MISL/NISL Champions
Let's go Blues!
after serving up 8 last night....
the Blues are still under 2 GAA for the year at 1.9…good for 2nd in the NHL…
Hey…if you have to give up 8 goals, I’d rather give up 8 in one game then give up 4 and 4 over two games….or 3, 3, and 2 over three games….right?
Let’s get back to that 0 and 1 goal against a game, shall we?
I like O'Neill's
little whitty-isms.
History books tell us Columbus sailed the ocean blue. On this night, Columbus (9-5) frequently sailed right past the Blues, who fell to 9-2-2.
Columbus led 2-0 with 9:30 remaining, and a wake-up alarm was ringing for the Blues. They rolled over and went back to sleep.

Man
Well at least we’re back in our barn tonight. Hopefully the team remembers they play tonight. I’m going to be there with Ms. Bluestiger (taking her to her first Blues game ever) So lets keep our unbeaten at home mojo going please.
Barret Jackman is my hero.
Fueled. These new shores burn. Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more.
Holy crap that game was harsh last night.
Kerbs and Chaser couldn’t help but laugh about the lopsided play last night, either. I haven’t seen a game that bad in a while. Tonight, though, it’s the Jr. Blues for me.

Wow.....
I missed last night altogether……..I might be moving Units in the Hospital….from the Emergency Room to the CICU….Cardiac Intensive Care……..So I worked Tuesday night, then did 3 hours of CPR renewal, then stayed to meet the CICU manager and then meet eith the EU manager……I was at work a total of about 22 hours yesterday so when I got home I collapsed……I woke up last night to an 8-1 debacle and the Osh is now out?
FUCK ME……………..
Im resisting the urge to hit the panic button…….wil not do it will not do it……but man we need Frenchie back more than ever now…..
I still maintain Vladimir Konstantinov got what he deserved...If you can't handle that then kiss my ass......
"I've got a bad feeling about this..."
So...
At lunchtime hubby told me he heard that Oshie’s ankle is just fractured, not broken. I haven’t been able to track down any recent updates and I’m usually the one informing him of all the Blues news.
Anyone hear anything yet as to how bad it really is??
I’m sitting here depressed today – hopelessly clicking around wanting to discover something new about the Blues, that last night was just a bad dream, that Oshie really isn’t hurt, etc etc…and I almost don’t want to watch tonite after suffering through ALL of last night’s game…but I’ll be here. I bleed Blue.
Put your big girl panties on and deal with it!
Fracured according to the Blues website...
“St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday that T.J. Oshie is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured ankle in Wednesday’s loss in Columbus.”
Get off your knees, ref! You're blowin' the game!
Those 2 words
are pretty much interchangeable.

To Spec, TB, and Gallagher
..and any other vets that frequent the site.
Thanks.
Make this shit green and let these guys know how much we appreciate what they’ve done for our rights.

That includes my father...
… who won a government-run lottery in 1966 and was rewarded with a twelve-month all-expenses-paid trip to Southeast Asia.
Thanks, Dad.
Holy crap... my uncle won that exact same lottery...
What a coinkydink. :)
My dad had four kids already by 1966, and was working at Granite City Steel, which was at the time considered a “vital to the war effort” sort of position. Also had a ruputured disk in his back from playing HS football…
Needless to say, Dad was 4-F, for which I’m very thankful.
Uncle (dad’s brother, two years younger) made it back fine, fortunately.

Thank you for thinking about us vets today
Huge thank you from me to all the vets out there for stepping up.
Now please, no nasty comments from the peanut gallery and the first one who cracks wise on my bus driver uniform gets it. We all couldn’t look like Popeye or Audi Murphy, someone had to keep those planes in the air.
1st pic. Airmen Basic spectr17 at the tender age of 18 at Lackland AFB in beautiful San Antonio TX. I never got to see the dayum town because the one day we had base liberty to go into town I was under armed guard in CQ cuz some ahole double setback fingered me as the leader of a shower party against him. Me almost getting kicked out the 3 weeks in is a whole nother story. Anyhoo, I was finally cleared of the charges and got to to join my mates marching in the blazing TX sun in August while fending off them fucking fire ants.

The 2nd pic was is when I picked the lock to the drill instructors office one weekend to take some souvenir shots with my new Polaroid Pronto camera. I musta made $150 in beer money that day at $5 a pop for everyone in my flight. All was well until one day a goof left his locker open and our T.I. found the goof’s pic of him in the instructors hat. My azz was grass and I did pushups EVERY day, ALL day until I graduated for that stunt.

Thank you sir for your service :)
I’m sure there are plenty other “Service” stories to be told, or some left untold!!
And, you? A trouble maker? Never!!

I know Spec could tell some Germany stories...
…because I know I can, and so could everybody who ever went over there.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…
And thanks to all for appreciating us. People like you guys and gals are why we did what we did.

...and before anyone asks, no, I don't have my Basic Training photo from Ft. Knox.
Mom and Dad have it… and they’re under strict orders to never show it to anybody. :)
I’ll see if I can find one or two of me in Germany, though…

By the way, that "Our Valued Customers" site is about the funniest thing I've seen today...
As one who’s been known to purchase the occasional comic book (X-Men, Avengers, Thor), I’ve seen many customers very similar to some of the ones described on that site.
The Fantasy Shop on Lindbergh FTW!!!
